Of my 4 5'ers this is the only one not to have an inside switch. I use the breaker when tank is empty for assurance that it is off. Ofcourse one of my grandchildren (the courious one) turned mine on onetime in my Layton. Boy was that a job changing the element. Sometimes I think the one who designs these things should have to maintain them! lol
Then there was the time somebody pulled the safety chain on the Layton while it was hooked up at my sister-in-laws. We were gone for about 10 days when we got back I discovered it. Three brake magnets were warped and one partly melted.
Come to think of it so far most of the Bad Things happened to that trailer. While in storage a tree fell on it, my neighbor mashed the side pulling out with his 38 ft MH and someone else ran into it?????

I guess the main reason I installed the switch with the light was so I would know from inside when the electric was on. I guess if you have a walk around check list that you use every time that isn't a problem turning the switch outside on and off. Of course after the first time we used the trailer and then winterized it I forgot to turn the heater off and burned the element out, that was when I decided to install the switch light assembly. When we get older and start forgetting things any crutch we can use helps to remember things. I also like to turn off the heater when we are camping and we go away for sometime just to be sure there isn't any fire accidents. Some people also turn off their water when they go out also incase there is a water leak in the camper while they are out.

When we are on 30 Amps and want to use the washer dryer we have to turn off the electric hot water or we are throwing out the breakers. Haven't figured how the washer, hot water and all the outlets in the rig are on the same breaker. but they are.

I think I'll add the inside water heater switch, great idea. One of our camping group (The Yes Dear Campers) gave each of us a remote control on/off switch. I ran a extention cord from the outlets over and up the awning arm, place the remote on/off box there, then run all the deco lights I want. Then at bedtime just push the button on the keychain remote. Life is tough. One of our group played with one of those clap-on/clap-off gismos, but tossed it after all his buddies kept turning his lights on and off. What are friends for. Merry Christmas everybody!!!!Ho..Ho...Ho...
