Broken Spring Hanger in Charlottesville Va.

When backing into our spot at Charlottesville KOA DW noticed tire hitting wheel cowing. Pulled the cowing out a little and got the 5'er set up for the night. Investigated this morning and found the rear spring hanger on curb side broke in two places. It has to be replaced as too mangled to repair. Got ahold of mobile guy who said he could be here this evening but later called to say it would be tomorrow morning. If he doesn't work out does anyone know a good repair facility in this area? Thanks for any help. Jim

If you have Coachnet call them. They took care of my service call fee for a broken hanger.

When the the welder starts his repair make sure all wires and hydraulic line are move away from the weld area. Keystone runs most of the wire right down the frame.

Jim, I believe that hanger is considered part of the frame and is perhaps included in the frame's 5 year warranty. Ours was replaced under warranty 2 or 3 years ago. Might be worth following up with Keystone or Lippert. Our problem hanger was also the rear one but on the other side.

Thanks for the info Steve. I'll check next week. I just took the rig into the shop yesterday to have the other rear hanger replaced as it had a slight bend in it undoubtedly caused from the first one breaking.

John Kohl did a nice job of re-enforcing his hanger bracket with an end plate, complete with gusset. He may have pics posted in archive, I dunno.

Jerry,
I had seen John's re-enforcing back when he posted it. Had every intention of doing mine but never got around to it. While it is in the shop having the other spring hanger replaced they are re-enforcing all three. The guy that repaired the broken one re-enforced the one he installed. Said he didn't understand why the factory doesn't do this to start with. Acting on sreigel's suggestion I tried to call Lippert today for warranty info but was 10 minutes too late as they close at 4:30. Will try them tomorrow. Jim

I found my papers that came with the 5'er. They showed a two year frame warranty. Keystone as well as Lippert gave me the same info. Lippert did ask me to send pictures and copies of the repair bill. Wasn't sure it would do any good but they would at least look at it. Well after a couple of weeks exchanging e-mails they officialy denied my claim. Can't say I blame them as the warranty was only for two years and we are in year five with the rig. If I'd followed John Kohls recommendation when he made it could have saved myself a few hundred bucks. Live and learn. Jim
