Short circuit on brakes

Thanks to this forum I was able to quickly solve a brake problem. My Prodigy brake controller indicated a short circuit and an overload on my brake circuit. I pulled over and with what I have learned here, found the worn wires passing through an axle. Taped it and off we went. Problem solved in ten minutes.
I just did a brake job and looked for worn wires. I just missed this one.
Thanks again!

Don't stop there. Tape is only a fair protection against the elements, especially water (and salt if you pull in the winter). They make stuff called liquid tape that is water proof and will thus give better protection. In a pinch, I've also used silicone. On top of that, you need to fix whatever the problem was that caused the insulation to wear off in the first place or put something over the wires to keep them from chaffing.

The liquid tape is also available as a spray. I haven't used it but plan on getting a can just to have it on hand.
