Refrigerator Vent Leak Fix?

Sorry to ask this question when I know it's been answered, but for some reason the forum search feature won't work for me.

I've read where someone had a fix for preventing rain/water from collecting and getting into the kitchen slide when it gets into the fridge vents.

Anyone have any pics or description of the best way to screen the fridge vents to keep out the bees etc?

Thanks (and anyone know what's up with the search feature BTW?)

Greg, I have never heard of rain water getting into the two frige vents. It's possible that the water is from the drain tube not being outside the vent.
As for wasps & mud daubers, I put moth balls in an old nylon (panty hose) sock; just lay it inside the frig compartment, or any other place you don't want them critters.

Thanks for the reply Larry. Maybe that explains why I can't find anything on it. Probably the only way it would get in is going down the road in the rain. Guess I'll see how things work out if that happens.

I bought some 1/8" hardware cloth to put over the vent holes. The wife loves them moth balls though....me not so much. Thanks again.

Greg,
I posted that information, and for those year models it is a good fix. I have seen some newer Montana models and it appears that Keystone made a design change. Look closely at your two vents. When you take the cover off you should see the screws going in horizontally, and you should see 3 drain holes in the bottom of the frame of the vent covers. If you have that modification from the factory then I think the water is coming from some other place. If the screws go down vertically into the frame, then the posted link you found is the way to go.

Good luck.

Wayne,

Glad you replied with that info. I probably wasn't going to tear into it unless I saw a problem, but thought I had saved the info like I do most things that look like a good idea, and yours certainly was!

Didn't look tonight (dark and raining), but I do recall seeing the vents you described. Hopefully they did fix the design and won't have any problems with it. Thanks!
