Kitchen Sink Water Flow Problem

At times we experience a vapor lock type problem with the water flow at our kitchen sink; e.g. no water flow at all. If we turn the water on at the bathroom sink, the flow returns at the kitchen sink. Any ideas what is causing this?

We get that too. I figured it was low pressure water. It happens with the lavatory or the sink, the hot or cold taps, just kind of arbitrary. We'll let it run for a little while, get irritated about the poor flow, then shut it off, yell and scream at each other to curse at it for a few seconds, then turn it back on and it works better. We always thought it was the yelling and screaming improved the pressure.

While I wonder if it's a pressure equalization problem not a vapor lock (air doesn't seem to be present in our case), I suppose a more logical explanation and solution would be better. But different from your problem we always seem to have some amount of water flow.

Does your sink have a seperate sprayer? On some sinks they still had the diverter valve installed in the faucet, even if oyu did not have one. so when turning on the sink the diverter would block it from coming out of the main spout. so when you turn on your bathroom sink it relieves the pressure enough from the diverter so your main spout will run again.

On Edit: you will also find some post on this subject in the archives, it has been brought up before.

Just a thought. On a TT we had a while back the water pressure was very eratic. There was a piece of something in the fresh water tank and would block the flow every so often. Found it and removed it. Problem solved. May not be your problem but I would disconnect the tube at the pump and check it out. IMHO. john
