Dead Bolt...

I went to lock the dead bolt the other day.. the key keep turning around and the dead bolt did not move.. Is it time for a new lock on the Monty or is there a fix for this problem???? This is the second time it has happen in the last week..

take the whole lock out of the door. Take the three or four screws out ( if they didn't already fall out) of the side plate. the linkage between the tumbler and the bolt probably fell out of the holes in one of the components.

when you put the side plate back on use some loctite on the threads.

kevin Thanks for the info..That was exactly what was wrong with it.. One screw had fallen out of the side plate. The little rod was still in place. The second screw was about half way out.. Put loctite on the side plate screws and on the 4 screws that hold the lock in the door...
