12v Track/Pendant lighting
Help! I am looking for 12v track or pendant lighting to put above the counter in our 3455. One forum I was on said you can use a 110 track light by simply not hooking up the transformer and puttin in a 12v bulb. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or has someone actually converted 110 track to 12v? I really need more lighting above the bar. A pendant or track light will work. Thanks, Patti

Here is a link to the lighting mod we did to our 3455SA back in April: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=39019 At the time Gustafson was not selling the pendants on their website, but I just checked and they are now. Here is a link to the pendant lights: Pendant Lights There are also several other 12 volt fixtures on their website.
When I first installed the lights I used hollow wall anchors to mount the lights to the ceiling, but after some input from other members I ended sliding strips of wood through the holes in the ceiling, securing them with wood screws and the screwed the light fixtures through the ceiling and to the wood strip. The lights have held up great so far and over some rough roads. The additional lighting really does help.

I replaced all the lights in our monty...12v and 110v. The 12v, you have a few options. Ebay has 12v pendant lights quite frequently, and generally at a good price. The other option, which I did, is to put up 110v light fixtures and simply use 12v bulbs. You are limited on the bulbs a bit, but it works very well for us, and I got the light fixtures I wanted. We have 25watt screw in bulbs (12v), and they give off plenty of light. Other wattages are available also.
**forgot to add....if you use 12v bulbs in a 110 fixture, you have to make sure your wiring can handle it, due to the fuse and wire size. I had NO problems with this however.**
