Our 32 Inch Televsion Quit

In the last days at the Quartzsite Rally our 32" Telivision decided to give up. Press the power button and the screen flashs igital Telivision and shuts off again. Even tried at the television without the remote and same problem. It is a Sylvania DTV likely built in 2008 as our Montana is a 2009 built in 2008. So age wise it is near 3 yeras old. Darn electronic world! Maybe it was those harmonics from my Yamaha 2400i.
We are in the Phoenix area now, so down to Costco or where ever to fetch a new one. (Last month our 3 yera old Garmin quit).
Decision will be to buy a LED or stay with the LCD?
Anyone else have any problems with there main television??

Once that smoke escapes from inside, it has to be returned to China to get more smoke packed into the tv.

Whatever you buy, be sure that it has all the connections that you NEED coming out of, and into, the back of the television. This past year I purchased one and there are no RCA audio outputs, only an optical. Unfortunately the "home theater" system that came with the RV only has RCA phono inputs. Do your homework before you leave the RV and write down all the connections you need. Then go shopping. If you can do without surround sound for tv movies, then you will not need the audio output(s).

Go with a LED they use less electricity so less draw on your converter when hooked up. Makes a big difference if you dry camp and use a inverter too.

We just bought a nice LED at Best buy, it was a display model, got $100.00 off, you might check on those deals.

Our Sylvania still works fine. I would also consider the LED because they take less power while on batteries. My eyes can't tell the difference. They are past that level of good.

Ask them if the LED's can be frozen, if you live where that might happen. I leave my Sylvania in the camper all the time so it freezes. I just don't use it till it warms up. I would expect these tv's to have a shorter life because of the temp changes and the vibration of travel.
Enjoy your new set!

I like the low power draw aspect, I really don't think they would make a TV that can't be in freezing weather, as for the shortened life, I also doubt it. I think you have the key to the deal, just let it warm up.
Either way, I own it now, for better or worse.

The fun is trying to find a new unit that will fit into that permanent opening and mountuing slide bracket. Most new TVs are thinner and smaller in the 32". The back mounts are different on some. Our slide mount is a solid piece that fits the back of the TV. Some TVs have the 110 plug at the center of the unit so we can't use the original slide and that type of plug. Will see what happens. Widths seem to be the same but heigth is now shallower. Our opening is 23.5" and the new ones are 19.5 to 20,5 high. Will have a 2.5 to 3.5 space. The world of change!!!

My next one will probably be an LED, they have a better picture IMHO.

Freezing is not an issue for either LEDs or Cold Cathode fluorescents. Is it an issue for the LCD portion of the display.
