TV Audio with External Speakers

Has anyone figured out how to use the external speakers (above the fireplace) with the TV audio in newer Montanas? I’ve tried everything but nothing works. Not sure if it’s possible. It seems that the HDMI from the stereo to the TV should work by changing the audio settings but nothing changes. I’ve gone through all the audio settings on both the stereo and the TV. Anyone figured it out yet?

In our rig the external speakers both inside and out are all controled by the crappy DVD player.

Yes, mine too. I’m trying to get the TV sound to go through the player to the external speakers instead of using the crappy TV speakers so the Sirius XM music from Dish Network will sound better and be distributed to all speakers.

With my new 3811MS - Furrion TV and IR32 DVD/Stereo
Used a headphone jack to RCA line. Just above the side HDMI connections is the speaker out jack. You have to remove the DVD player to access the back RCA inputs (bottom row, white and red.)
When you connect that line the TV will show external speakers - Variable or Fixed sound. Choose Fixed. The stereo should then be set to TV Speakers. You have to use the remote for the stereo to control volume and mute.
Check Best Buy or Walmart or Amazon for the cable. Buy the cheapest. Probably less than $8. My is 4 ft long to fish down to reach the stereo.

Faceplate of the IR32 has 2 tabs right side that will release and allow the bottom half of the faceplate to come off. Mine only had 2 screws holding the unit in.

I know very little about it. But from what I have learned, you must has an HDMI-ARC (audio return channel) connection between the TV and the sound system to get TV sound transmitted to the sound system. Don't know if that requires a specific type TV or not. Or if the standard Montana TV has that feature. And the sound system must also be HDMI-ARC compatible.

Thanks for the information. I was trying to avoid pulling the DVD but I guess that's the only way. Not sure why the HDMI that goes from the TV to the DVD won't carry the signal. The HDMI is suppose to send the signals both ways, but I guess not in this case. I will do as suggested. Thanks again.

I chose to add 2 small cubed speakers above the sound bar shelf and took the zone 2 speaker wires from the bedroom ceiling speakers and connected them to the cubes. They are now my jensen primary speakers when I turn on the radio. Zone 1 and Zone 3 are still the front room and outside speakers. My TV can play thru the cubes with a button change on the Jensen. I use the sound bar for DVD's, but can't be bothered to figure out what buttons make it work half the time. I did not find a need to have the front room audio playing in the bedroom.

I have the same question, everything works except for the sound from the tv when I am watching my satellite channels, or movies on our portable DVD/Blue Ray player. Its very frustrating, been working on it for a couple of hours.

Has anyone got this figured out yet regarding getting the tv around to come thru the speakers? We have a 2018 Montana 5th wheel with the Insignia tv and the irv Technologies radio/cd/DVD player.

I have a 2018 3920, I don’t use the built in system as it’s kind of a piece... I replaced the sound bar with a 5.1 surround system 2 tear speakers and subwoofer with bluetooth, it’s more then enough for the coach. Outside I have bluetooth monster speakers (2) that are synced together.

I was too lazy to connect to the back of the DVD. I just ran a RCA jack from the Dish receiver to the input jack on front of the DVD player. Perhaps the newer models don't have this tho???

If your TV and receiver both are ARC capable, a single HDMI cable is all thats needed.
With TV on and connected by HDMI cable simply scroll through the inputs of your receiver/stereo to find ARC. Some may also have a separate button labeled ARC or a button on the remote labeled ARC. You do not need to do anything to the TV just have it on a channel with sound like normal.

After you get the input to ARC on the receiver, it may take a few seconds for it to recognize the TV's output. Our home system is instant but I've noticed the Furrion system in the Montana has a few seconds delay.

Its extremely simple if both units are ARC capable. ( ARC = Audio Return Channel)

Even easier then arc is use a single optical cable to the sound system you are using then whatever the tv is playing the sound will played through sound bar. Well that’s how my 3920 is set up. Home is a different beast

I use the Optical output port on our LG TV to our Samsung Sound Bar. Works great!

Are the bedroom speakers the only inside speakers that with with stereo

Mdoyle - I don't know what year model RV you have...but mine is a 2018.
I have 3 sets of OEM speakers.
I have buttons on the stereo head unit "A" "B" or "C"...click on screen shot below.
I have removed the OEM living room speakers from my TV sound function and have a Bose Solo sound bar sitting behind the TV.
The living room speakers are still used for the radio or CD palyer (or bluetooth music).
I put labels on the head unit so I would remember which button controls what speakers. The OEM speakers are not the best...they work for me just fine. My "audiophile" days are far behind me...just grateful that I can still hear in both ears after a being subjected to abuse by loud music in my youth.

In order to get my outside speakers to work, I have to have the settings on ARC. This is a television setting. BUT, the outside speakers are so poor, we never use them.

Actually, the entire sound system is very, very poor, and the television is a Furrion television. It is NOT a smart television with internet capability.

We choose to simply get a small Roku $88 smart television. One for the bed room and one for the living room and an external sound bar with the Bass and the tweeters. It's marvelous.... and we get all those streaming channels.

The television works as a second monitor for our computers AND it can be taken outside easily. Take the sound bar outside and the Bass speaker and it "CAN" blast the campground out! (We don't, but it could).

To each their own. That was our solution!

I opted not to have a TV in the bedroom. I did replace the living room TV with an LG smart TV and added google TV. I installed an optical to RCA converter. Took the optical out from the TV to the converter, RCA out from the converter to the TV2 input on the receiver. Sub out from the receiver to the Sony soundbar. When I turn on the TV I get sound through the receiver speakers on zone 1 and/or 2 and through the sound bar. It sounds great. I also installed a Sony TV in the basement so I can have sports or a movie streaming on both and utilize the zone 2 speakers. The next upgrade will be the zone 2 speakers.

My Montana has the Jensen JWM70A receiver. I also have a Dish “Wally” receiver. I couldn’t get sufficient volume from the Jensen TV. Some quick research showed the JWM70A has a “rear auxiliary” input for left and right audio using standard RCA jacks located on the back of the receiver. Besides the HDMI output the “Wally” also has left and right audio out jacks. I connected the Wally audio out jacks to the Jensen “rear auxiliary” in jacks and now I get more than enough volume through the front speakers by selecting “rear auxiliary” with the 70A’s Mode Selector when watching the Wally.
