Drum to Disc conversion
Well, I am going to do it. Tuesday a man from Titan will be in my driveway to do the brake conversion. We had a '05 Titanium for ten years with drum brakes and I never did feel like I was getting adequate braking. In August we bought a Montana 3611RL. The brakes were no better. I had been looking at the ad inTrailer Life mag and finally called them about 3 weeks ago. Made the deal and Tues I'll get what I hope will be much better braking power. Hope It all works out for the best.

My unit brakes much better with the disc brakes. Had to do a "dynamite" stop today on the way home and it was not a problem.

So glad to hear all the positive support on this decision. I am hoping mine works out as good as what I am hearing here. Thanks.
Oh, has any one had a bad experience with this conversion? Or heard about one?

Everything I've heard about the Titan Guys have been extremly positive and don't know of anyone who wasn't pleased with the job.

I'm considering the disc conversion as well. Good to hear all the positive comments on Titan.
Buddy is currently on his first trip with new disc brakes but he went with Dexter. He was happy on his short drive home after the installation but it will be interesting to hear a report after a long trip in the mountains.
I'm also considering the Moreyde as well.

We had ours installed at Morryde in Indiana and we just got back to the west coast. After 2500 miles all I can say is they work great.. Some folks say they are not needed as most trucks have exhaust brakes, but exhaust brakes will not help you at all when making a panic stop... Great choice and money well spent..

That's exactly what I've been trying to tell people for the last 4 or 5 years, right after we had Disc put on our little Monty 2955, and as you get bigger and heavier (the RV I mean) they're needed even more.

My disc brake installation at the dealer I bought my 5er from was about $1800 for the brakes,etc. (this is before 15% discount) and 8 hours labor. This was part of my purchase of the rig, so hard for me to tell if the labor is right or wrong.

For Mor/ryde to do the job: approx $2700 to $3000, a DIY Kit from Titan is approx $1500 to $1800 depending on where purchased.

My brakes were part of a package with the I/S system but I think most folks are paying about $2,800 to 3,000 installed. Do it yourself kit runs roughly $1,600 to $1,800 if I remember correctly.

Doing my own work, I did our 2013 3150RL for about $1800. Given the braking improvement I will say again that this is the single best upgrade I have done to the RV and will never own another rig without disk brakes,

Disc brakes came on our Big Sky and we love them. If it had to, the trailer could stop the truck. There have been a couple of times that I had to get on it pretty good and it feels like the truck and trailer "squats." Good feeling when someone pulls in from of you and your rig responds so well to the brake pedal.
