Ozz,

I've gathered you're an avid cyclist from some of your posts. You should check this link out if you can make this stop into your country tour.

There's lots of history and they've turned this former train route into a bike path (I'd recommend the downhill direction). It traverses more tunnels and trellis bridges in the shortest distance than I've ever heard of in an attempt to maintain a consistent grade. I regret not having completed this but you can do this. I think you'd enjoy it. DW and I drove down much of this area (not where it's bikes only), but I understand you can bike ride from Taft (Exit 5, I-90) all the way to Pearson, ID.

I think we will head further North on I-90, Butte first, then? I will look at your link and check that out.

Art, this is great! I will look into it, I bet it is a beautiful biking adventure. The long tunnel sounds fun, I bet wildlife migrates into the tunnel.
In Missouri, around Columbia, there is the KADY Trail, an old rail bed that is a great ride, there are B. & B.' all along it, as well as small taverns.

Then you will go past the turn off I'm speaking of. I turned off at Garrison and headed north to Glacier.

Art, we are headed to meet up with friends at Coeur d'Alene tomorrow, I really want to ride that trail, but not sure if I can convince the other half to "ditch" our friends for a day and ride at least part of it.

Jim, if you're headed towards Glacier you probably want to get there before September, or at least very far into September. They can get a lot of snow in September. And Glacier is one of the most stunning places we've been, as far as scenery.

No plans to go to Glacier, Butte, then Missoula is the next leg, so far... But thanks for the tip, always good to get feedback from one who has been there.
