Outside shower
What are the pros and cons of the outside shower, do they have much use? Will be ordering a 3400RL and wonder if it is worth having?

Hi Bill,
The only time we have used our's is to wash the sand off at the beach. It was nice to have then, especially having the Grand Kids with us. I thought those were standard equip. we've had it on our last two TT's.

Bill:
We agree with azstar. That is why we had it added as an option. We thought that with the grand kids it would prove to be a wise decision. As yet, we haven't used it, but as new Rvers, we haven't used our unit enough last year to know if this a fact yet. It could be beneficial in washing off hands after fishing also. Potentially, it could have been a good decision. Good luck with your decision. We also chose the 3400rl as our unit.

I thought they were standard also. We've had them on all of our units. It is one of those things you might not use much but when the occasion arises, you will be really glad you have it. We've even used it to get mud off the side of the coach (big truck splashed us).

We use ours to give Scotter his every once-in-a-while bath, sluice him and/or ourselves off after beach or dust/dirt "exposures". Also used to do some cleaning when we want to keep the item out of the rig until it is cleaned off.
Nice feature to have, but certainly not a big buck "gotta have". I also thought it was a "standard" item, not a $$ option.
Best,

We used our outside shower all the time for all of the same reasons that have been said here. Its great to wash off the sand at the beach. It is an option for 2005 montanas. Montana has gone to a base price listing and everything now are options for 2005. You can make a reg montana a big sky with all of the options. We have the listing and prices of each if any one wants to know. We ordered Our new Montana with all of the options but the Gelcoat gloss sides and king size bed.

Since we just bought ours off the lot Don't know if it was standard or not. We have it and I use it a lot when wanting to clean my turkey fryer or big black pot. It is great for that. Haven't been to a beach when it was nice weather. Always seems to rain or cold. If I was ordering one I think I would get it if not to pricey

We bought our '01 Montana off the dealer's lot and it had the outside shower. We ordered our '03 and did not order the outside shower but it came with it anyhow, gratis. About the only time we use it is for washing off sand when at the beach.
Don't forget to run the pink stuff through it when winterizing.

When we used our unit for an extended time at the lake and did not have sewer hook-up we really used the outside shower. A great way to NOT fill up your gray water tank. A great thread, by the way...interesting how everyone uses a particular item. LOL Also found it great for cleaning muddy sneakers, etc. Sure keeps a lot of mess out of holding tanks and off the carpet in Monty. Since you have hot water at the outside shower, makes it much easier to get a bucket of hot soapy water when cleaning the unit or tow vehicle. No need to lug that bucket of hot water through the Monty. That's about all the pros I can think of right this minute.

We had the shower installed in both our Mountaineers and it was already on the 3400. We use it quite a lot. If Colin is doing dirty work he washes his hands there instead of messing up my sink!! Also we take the grandchildren away quite a lot they range from 20mths to 18 years, very useful there. The other use is for cleaning the BBQ. For the extra price I would say well worth getting.

Maybe I missed it, but didn't see the biggest reason I use it - after dumping the grey and black water tanks, I keep hand soap and some paper towel in the shower. Just pull up, dump the tanks, put everything away and then wash up. I agree, it keeps the mess of dirty hands out of the unit. Also good if needed to wash the dog off or at a beach or fishing. Like most of the things about my Montana - it isn't about need, it's about want. Good luck with ordering your 3400 - we love ours.

I have had one in the last TT and have one in the Montana and have never used it yet. Thanks for the sugguestions as now I may think about it when washing the unit or even washing up after getting the 5th wheel ready for the next site.

Joyce, I never thought about it for washing the Montana.
Ron, I never thought about it for after hooking up the sewer connection, either. I have a box of cheap latex gloves from Walmart and just use those.
I think I learned a couple of things in this thread.

Ditto with all the reasons already stated plus we travel with cats and comes in handy in washing the litter box. Good luck with your decision.
Safe travels.

We are curretnly looking at Montanas and have a TT with the shower option and I use it for when I have cleaned fish and don't want to stick up the trailer washing my hands and knives. Also use it to clean the pets when they come along.

We didnt have one on our first RV, but got it on the Montana. We travel to Myrtle Beach once a year, and it is great for washing of sand, and giveing our dog a quick rinse if need be. I am pretty sure it is included in the "Moving to Montana" package.
