Scratched the cap of our 2018 3120RL - need to repair

Hi everyone!

Getting straight to it... I had a minor jack-knife event with our RAM 2500 and 3120RL... rubbed/scraped the driver-side corner of the truck cab (1/4" x 1 1/4") - and scraped the corner of the cap (1" x 2"). I'm told the cap coating is gelcoat... appears to be a membrane of sorts... which when I collided with it sort of smeared / pushed / tore / wrinkled the coating. Of course we want it repaired... Any ideas? I've got the trailer in a Paul Evert RV (Keystone/Montana dealer in Mesa, AZ).

BUT... without any real working knowledge of this subject it's hard to tell good advice from bad... and we'd like to repair it only once.

I'm hearing that one repair-method would be to paint a portion of the cap and clear coat it... but that in the AZ sun - when the cap fades, the repaired area will fade differently than the untouched cap area (which makes all sense).

Isn't there a way to repair the 'membrane' (aka gelcoat, or whatever is really is) without paint? I've read of some marine fiberglass / gelcoat repair... is that what's needed? (Although... boats don't have this type of membrane... our boat's hull was more akin to the side of our Montana... not the cap covering material.

Help! I'm at a loss... and don't want to screw this up... again! Please advise...
