Not according to the lieometer, but real mileage on my 2011 F350. Over a 400+ mile trip, running at highway speeds (mostly 70MPH), it got 19.9 mpg. That is so much better than the 13 to 14 mpg I got on the 2008 F350 1-ton. This, of course, was not towing mileage. It wasn't stripped either. The back seat was loaded with luggage and stuff, the tool box in the back and with the hitch mounted.

I now have about 3500 miles on it now and hoping a little more will further increase mileage. Here's hoping all brands get better mileage while maintaining or improving power, we all need it.

That's great. The best I have ever got not towing was 18.5 MPG. Since they went to Low Sulphur, I only see 14 to 14.5 MPG not towing.

Last two fill ups which were mostly towing got around 11 MPG. Avg since Nov 2010 is 10.8 MPG. I use a Free Droid App "GasRecord" to track fuel since Nov 2010.

According to my Scangauge 2 I'm only getting 7-8mpg towing, and that was on flat Florida interstate conditions. Something is wrong! But I don't know how to find out what the problem is.

Bill,

I get my mileage by miles driven, divided by gallons put in. I have same engine, and 9.4 is worse I have gotten (had really strong head wind).

Unlike many others we have found our lie o meter and hand calculated to be very close.It is important to put in the exact same anmount of fuel in between fillups when hand calculating. We do not check MPG very often because it is what it is but have always found the lie o meter and hand calculated to be with a few 10ths of one another.

I don't have enough data to know for sure what I'm getting, so maybe I should table the discussion for now. We are only on our 2nd tank of diesel and only started recording the miles with this tank. With all the work we were getting done on the truck, I figured it wasn't worth recording the 1st tank.

The real test will come in 2 weeks when we take a 2,000 mile journey!

If you have a smart phone, you can get GasRecord for free. I know it is there for Droid, not sure about others. It is real easy to use.

I'm kinda a high-tech guy, just too much on my plate at the moment so I'm overlooking some obvious things I should be doing.

Just finished a 4800 mile trip to the Southwest US. Over the entire trip the MPG was 10.7 with only about 200 miles of that unhooked from the Monty. I am pleased with that since alot of the pulling was in the mountains, including Wolf Creek pass in Colorado. The lowest segment was 7.4 MPG from Oklahoma City to Elk City, Ok. The wind was sustained 40 MPH with 60mph gusts. Stopped for fuel in Elk City after seeing a tractor trailer and a fifth wheel on their sides. Learned at the truck stop that five tractor trailers and the fifth wheel had been blown over. Luckily there was an RV park behind the truck stop and we parked our rig for the night. Even sitting in the parked Monty that afternoon was worrisome. Worst drivin day I have ever had.

The truck only had 600 miles when we started. Was also very happy with the way it pulled the mountains and also with the braking on the down grades. The rear end is 3.73.

7.3 Ford,

I love the fact that you have your mileage in the format you posted, despite the fact you're a Ford owner.

I keep mine manually every time I fill up and I was so impressed with your post I looked at your profile and saw you were an Oracle DBA and it all became clear to me!!

Seriously, I am very impressed and I always shake my head when people rely on their liar meter, (I think that's what Rich called it).

I'd be lying to you if I said we got better than 10 miles to the gallon this last weekend, so I won't....

8.57 miles per gallon, but it was worth every penny and dollar too!!!

I hate to do this but on a recent trip @65mph on I70 from Grand Junction to Denver my old (2002 GMC D/A) truck got 23.5 MPG.

The milage was calculated using the mile posts on the hwy and full fillups on both ends of the trip. All hwy travel. I'm keeping this one!

Some great numbers out there on milage, I dont depend on the "Lie O Meter" it just an estament of milage for that real time driving speed, the numbers do help to try and get a person to squeese a few more tenths out of it it does help to make you feel better I guess.
I do it the old fashoned way, miles driven and the amount of fuel replace, thats the real deal.
on my last outing back to our home, I was able to squeese 12 MPG towing @ 62 mph no mountains just a few hills.
