MEGA Condensation

OK, this weekend was the maiden voyage for our 2013 Montana 3582RL. We are camping in SW Florida and the temperature outdoors is just hitting 90 degrees.

We have the Dometic 15,000 running and the 13,500 running in the bedroom.

We first noticed some condensation at the ceiling vents. Later in the afternoon we notice a wet square on the ceiling approx 18 inches X 10 inches square just below the location of the 15,000 A/C unit.

When I say wet, I mean serious water that took a bunch of paper towels to absorb.

Today I bring our Montana home, plug it into our 30 amp and just run the 15,000 unit while unloading. Within a few short minutes we notice that same area getting wet again.

I get a ladder out, dry it off and notice that square area is COLD!! The rest of the ceiling in that area is warm to very warm, but that area is COLD. Thus the reason for the condensation.

Can anyone tell me why it would be cold there thus causing the condensation?

Sounds like you have a leak letting in the condensation from the ac. Since your rig is a 2013, is the warranty still in effect?

Tom I suspect that where the vents attach to the A/C is not sealed well, and it is cooling the ceiling at that location causing the condensation. But not sure. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head about the vent not being connected correctly. The cool/cold air coming out of the A/C is going out in between the roof and the ceiling thus creating the moisture. Definitely take you NEW unit back to the dealer you purchased it from and have him or his techs pull that A/C and make sure the duct is connected correctly or if there is a gap somewhere in the ducting. Maybe Ozz, the A/C expert, will be along and we'll see what he has to say! I'm sure not an expert in this field!

Had the same problem with our new 345DBQ. They resealed the cooling box, never had a problem after that.
