We have the Dometic Slidetopper Elite toppers. They have held up very well, and we have constant wind here on the coast. I do have PVC supports under them to keep the popping down some.

I am sure you are aware of how they shake the fifth wheel with the high winds? I sure like them, but we used to have to pull the slides in at night to be able to sleep. They still shake us if the wind is strong and out of the right direction, but we can live with it with the supports under them.

The only problem I had with slide toppers was that they started to delaminate after 4 years and had to have the fabric replaced. Maybe they have better material now?

There was a post, not too long ago (which could be as much as a year) about a source of fabric for the toppers. Mine are deteriorating, slowed only by repair tape.

Does anyone remember what the material was, and where I could get it??

A&E doesn't hem the edge of their slide toppers but, Carefree of Colorado does. My Montana came with A&E toppers and after three years there are little tears starting at the corner of the edge. It would seem to me that if the edges were hemmed they would be stronger.

We have had the Carefree of Colorado slide toppers for almost 3 years now and so far they have held up pretty good, even with the high winds (40/50 mph) that we had at Quartzsite this year. We are pleased with them so far, but time will tell. They do make a lot of noise in high winds unless you strap them down.

I made them out of 1" pvc. I'm gonna be out of pocket for a couple of days, but will try to post pictures when I get back.

This is our third Montana with the toppers. They all seem to last about 4 years with the A&E toppers. I think when we replace them I may do as Grant did and have the Carefree toppers installed.

Ours don't shake the fifthwheel when windy but they do flap and make noise. That's the drawback. However, it's not much of a problem other than worrying about longevity in the wind. I still wouldn't be without them.

I'm looking forward to Will's pictures.
