WHEEL BRAKES

I have read a lot on the site about brake controls and did'nt find what I was looking for I have a Voyager and have not pulled much with it only about 1500MI on the rig.. Yesterday I pulled to the dealer to get my counter tops replaced about 15 Mi one way. On the way over it seamed OK, on the way back every time I touched the brake it made a loud CLACK noise and jerked the trailer back and forth I put less brake on the control and then the noise went away but had very little brake to stop the Monty. I now am parked and was going to pull the wheels and check the brakes to see if somthing came loose. Now reading about controllers could it be the cheap tyhing the is either on or off and no real control of the brake pressure.

Last season,I pulled out of a campground and it did the same thing. Found the power wire for the brakes in the plugin connector had come loose and was shorting out. They did not have the wires tight enough. no problem since.

So...Voyager, you sure you didn't bump the pendulum control? I used to have this controller and could never get it to behave consistently at highway speeds verses in campground, moving slowly. I upgraded to the Sentinel and that helped but when I got the Monty I updated to my current Prodigy.

I used to use a Voyageur, but I replaced it with a Prodigy. The Prodigy is a much better controller. I was always fiddling with the Voyageur, but the Prodigy never needs adjusting once you have the initial set up done. Your immediate problem may be something more than the controller, but I would still take a look at a better controller before you travel much more.
