I wouldn't be without them. There are too many trees including pine trees where it is parked. I would be bringing all those needles in without them.

Topper are great for keeping the leaves, etc off. But the pine pitch and other sap should be cleaned off before retracting. So you still need to go up the ladder or on the roof. For those without toppers a rope with a bath towel tied in the middle and thrown over and pulled back and forth will clear debris and dust(and yes you can get a lot of dirt and dust under a topper also) thus eliminates going up the ladder. It won't clean sap, still have to go up to do that. They do keep the direct sun off the top of slide, a real positive in the south.
