Installing Front AC

I need your help again...... I just took deliverly of a Carrier AIR V 13500 BTU air conditioner with heat strip. In the installation instructions it said the the unit needed to be level. My roof Montana 3650) is on a slight slope and by going with the instructions I would need to make a wedge for it to sit on. A friend told me that the slope is so slight that I should not worry about the wedge and go ahead and install the unit with out it. I really don't want to use a wedge of not needed, any thoughts here??

My Carrier is a dealer installed second unit. As far as I can tell, it has no wedge and is mounted parallel with the roof.

I have never seen a wedge used. I think like in refrigerators, close is good enough. Dometic gives a an angle tolerance before a wedge is needed, but I don't have the manual in front of me.

That is exactly why I stayed away from the Carrier unit. IIRC, it is supposed to be within 1* of level. Seems it can be tilted down more on the rear, but not on the front. Dometic has much more tolerance. I would think this involves keeping sufficient oil in the compressor.

We have a Carrier V low profile on a 3400RL and it works just fine (it is not level, as you can see below).

Our Carrier AirV works great on the front. It maybe as bsmeaton stated, close is OK. You could call Carrier and ask them to speak to their tech support types. I just didn't bother. Dennis
