Mor Ryde CHP information

This rubber setup may be a concern for both the Hitch and the suspension, something to think about. It is a 2003 date, but isn't the design the same?

Good article Ozz - I'll have to check mine on the next oil change on the Monty as suggested!

At the root of my fears - this is why I didn't even consider the Mor-Ryde pin box adapter. I need something a little more than rubber between the Monty and the TV for me to feel confident. A fear unfounded most likely, but a fear non-the-less.

I could be wrong, but I think this pertains primarily to the MOR/ryde suspension installed on tow vehicles and larger trucks. I witnessed these being installed at MOR/ryde in Elkhart.

Keep in mind that document was dated nearly 4 years ago (July 14, 2003). I am sure if there were any problems back than, if for no more reason than liability, MORryde would have corrected them by now. If not we would all be hearing horror stories of accidents caused by these problems along with some major lawsuits.

In the new Monty I do have the MORryde suspension and I also installed the MORryde hitch and until I see more current information I will lose no sleep over this document.

I saved the document. I will be a good reference if I ever see a problem in the MorRyde RE on the trailer.

Ozz, with Glenn on this one. The illustration shows a driven dual wheel as illustration, I imagine tha thhis document was sent out in anticipation of shear forces induced by torque roll on the axle when power is applied.
Just my opinion

I was speaking to a rep at Morryde today (ordered the pinbox) he says they expect the material to last at least 10-15 years(this includes the suspension).

Brad
I asked what would happen if the rubber failed and he said the design wouldn't allow the pinbox to separate (my concern too) FYI they have a show special $745 with free shipping.

I think it was posted to show us what to watch for rather than saying there is a problem with Montanas.

Not to fear regarding the pin box. Even if the material failed the hitch is captive. Moreover, any such failure would be gradual as oppossed to catestrophic. The more compicated designs are also subject to failure. Infact there are multiple failure possibilities. I doubt that either an airbag or a shock is likely to last 15 years.
