Question Water Supply for Ice Maker

I am sure this has been asked and answered so Sorry for a repeat. We have a 3731FL with a Samsung residential refrigerator. I cheeked the owners manuals and have located the valve under the sink and also located the valve under the bottom drawer. The valve under the drawer rotates about a 1/4 turn. Does this valve turn further to open? So far we can't get water to the ice maker.

I have same fridge. It’s in a slide on our unit. We have a low point drain on the underbelly. You might check the low drain to see if you have water there first. Then try cycling the ice maker several times. Someone discussed how to do that in a winter prep thread and there u tube videos on the subject. I would tell you how but we haven’t had to do it yet

Progress

I was able to get a picture of the valve under the cabinet it is a 1/4 turn valve with off and on stamped into the handle. I was also able to locate the reset button on the ice maker. It is not easy to see so I used my cell phone on selfie mode to locate it. Still not making ice but making progress

It appears you have located all the right stuff to get line open to water.
Make sure the ice bucket is in the right place and that the ice maker wire arm is able to go down all the way indicating ice required for the tray.
Also there should be an "ice on" indicator on your control panel as well.

There is in fact an ice off button on top with rest of controls! Make sure the ice off light is off.

Same unit as you, under the slide is the supply to the fridge.
I think it has a stop (shutoff) I know I opened mine there to winterize.
It changes from blue PEX to a white supply line.

You will have to cycle the ice maker button many man times to get water to the fridge and purge the air out. When sucessful, you will see water dumped out of the ice freezer tray into the ice storage bucket.

Several seconds after you manually cycle the i'm, (square button under front cap of I/M - push and hold 3 sec.), the tray should began rotating and when level back up should activate fill valve. You should hear the fill valve energize about 6-8 seconds long. If water does not run into the ice mold after doing this several times, something is clogged. The fill valve entry connection or one of the turn off valves. You can loosen the lines to check them. Also the blue line could be crimped/kinked. If the fill valve or blue line is the issue, the reefer has to be pulled out. Some kind of fun! Notch or remove the trim below in front of reefer. Build some kind of platform to roll the reefer out on to in order to get to the stuff behind the unit.

It took my ice maker overnight to start making ice. (3) steps to make sure of: Valve under sink must be turn on - Secondary valve behind draw must be on (only turns 1/4 turn) - Ice maker must be "On" indicator light on inside of double doors (small and hard to see if on or off)

We figured out our problem. When we picked up our Rig my wife was not feeling well so I had a short walk thru. I Know not a great idea but had to deal with sick wife. Make a long story short the caps to the Low Point water system drain and fresh water tank were in the door for the water heater. When we setup it was COLD and we weren't outside to see the stream of water coming out the low point drain. Installed cap and VOILA water in the ice maker. Caps on problem solved ;0

Hi folks i know this post is a year old now but my new montana is not making ice. Where exactly is the drawer that the secondary valve is in? I have a 3791RD with center island. In addition, my ice bucket arm seems to be in the up position, does it have a long travel or doe sit stay rather close to the top and on;y travel abot a half inch to shut off the ice maker when the bucket is filled?

Thank you! How about the ice fill arm? Any light you can shed on that?

Don on the front of the ice maker feel around on the bottom. There is a real small button push and hold it until your ice maker cycles. When you hear it start let off and wait for it to fill. I would take the ice bin out and put towels down you might get water first try . If not keep cycling,

What I do is crack the line after the valve going to the fridge & let it purge the air out & anti freeze. Makes ice quick after that, also if you cant see the cycle button put your phone in selfie mode & take a couple of pics, you'll see it then.

Thank you!! I use that selfie mode trick all the time, it’s a god send for working in cramped quarters. Additionally I use it to read small print, snap a pic and enlarge!!

Selfie Mode

Hello Bear6201, Thank You for the "Selfie Mode" idea. Not a great photo, but it was very helpful. Now making ice. Just laid the phone in the ice tray and took the photo. I could not find that reset. Thanks, the BumClick image for larger version
