Need a place to park for the winter?

I saw this message posted on a local Facebook page, just passing it on...

Rickwood Caverns State Park (Warrior, Blount County) is one of our parks that was seasonally closed due to budget cuts and transfers to the General Fund. We have plans to reopen it in the Spring. We had an arrangement for a live-in caretaker to look after the park in the meantime, but unfortunately he is not able to stay there after all.

Do you know of anyone who might want to either live in the staff house (unfurnished) or set up an RV in a campsite, free of charge, in return for looking after the park?

Rob Grant, Assistant Director
Alabama State Parks

Let me know if you are interested and I'll pass along his contact information. Here's a link to the park

I wish I was closer. It does sound better than what I am doing now in California.

I wonder what they mean by "look after".

We do something like that with the Army COE.. Campground is closed for the winter.. Our job is to turn the lights on at night and turn them off in the morning.. That's it. Free site behind the locked gates..
Hard job but someone has to do it!!!!

You could be replaced by a photo sensor.

We do the same thing for the COE in Tennessee. The park is closed for the winter. We get a free site and free utilities. All we have to do is stay here and enjoy ourselves. The COE just like to have a presentence in the park to keep vandalism down and report any problems.

Ifw: We are located at Cedar Creek Campground on Old Hickory Lake in Mount Juliet, TN. It is East of Nashville about 20 miles.

Lfw, do you get time off to explore and enjoy or do you have to stay there?

We only do this from November to March,.this year We go back to the house in February for 6 week's then back to Houston for another Cancer checkup.. If all is good and everything goes according to the plan we would head north up into Montana.. Then from Montana to Indiana for the wife's class reunion then back to Houston in November for another checkup..
