Tripod under hitch?

New 2017 Montana owner here...previously owned a TT. Our Montana has the automatic leveling system. Bedroom w/slides over hitch. So, do we need to have a tripod under the hitch? Is there any problem having a tripod, since we have the auto leveling system?

Thanks,
Mark

I have a tripod but have never used it on the level up system. It is stable without it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Save your money. I borrowed my buddy's tripod to try out before I bought my own. With my Level-Up, the tripod offered nothing more.

Have one, wife thinks it helps but it is minor to me. Having it was how I discovered my fronts were getting lower over a weeks time or so. I kept it just snugged up and went to loosen it in april and found I couldn't turn it. Had to raise front levelers a little in order to turn the adjustment. john

Having the Mor-Ryde pin box on your new Monty it is for Sure a waste of money to have a Tripod but even without the Mor-Ryde I say chuck it! I was lucky and got 40 bucks at a garage sale for mine I was so glad to get rid of it as I felt it did Nothing for my 2004 Monty without level-up and for sure NOTHING with my 2012 and 2015 with level- up it was just a waste of space in my storage just my 2 bits

I have a tripod I have used for my 4 5th wheels. Took all the play out it and made it more stable/ Did not have auto level on any of them. I just added some stabilizers to my front jacks using cargo bars. Seems to work since I removed the tripod.

Have yet to meet someone with Level-up who didn't sell their tripot cheap or just flat give it away. We sold ours cheap when we added Level-up.

Owned and used one for years on previous sob 5th wheel. Since purchasing my Montana with auto level it just sits in a box in my garage. If you have a washer/dryer, it may help with some of the vibration. Personally, save your money.

Save the storage, weight and waste of time setting it up. Not needed with Level-up. I have one and have to use it because I don't have any better anti-movement system and it helps a little.

Been in rigs with and mine without a Level-Up system. If it's set up right, there is no contest which is better!

Had one with our first used Montana (no auto level). Didn't really need it for support when we bought our new Montana. Instead of giving it away or throwing it away we would still use it if camped in one spot for an extended period of time. I liked having it to chain our bicycles to at night. We also decorated it at Christmas time with lights so it looked like a Christmas tree.

You just met one. Helps a bunch, when washer/dryer in operated in front closet, there is nothing that the level up system does to Support that area, any differently then a old school system. We see a big difference.

We use ours when setting up for a week or more stay. It's not a day/night difference but we feel it does make some difference. I can understand why a lot of people think the difference is not worth the hassle but it doesn't really take that much effort.

The reason for that is I have 6 point level up AND a Mor-Ryde pin box Like you that is designed to move around side to side and front to back etc.. so that makes the tripod Useless AND why would I have a piece of equipment cluttering up my storage that is useless???,If ya think a tripod makes a difference WITH the Level -up AND Mor-Ryde together by all means carry it around but most of us are glad to have gotten rid of ours

I think every travel trailer owner going to a fifth wheel buys one. We di 13 years ago. It is a decent anti-theft device. We haven't used ours since the first year. Save your money.

I sold my tripod when I got the levelup installed. We don't miss it a bit.

I haven’t used one for a long time. As mentioned I think every new fifth wheel owner generally goes out and buys one. We did! However I believe it’s a very good deterrent to protect kids from running into the hitch. That’s my biggest concern. But I believe with my type of hitch it does help make it stable a little.
