Regarding B&W:

I went to their website at http://www.turnoverball.com and am researching the different models of hitches. If these are not available at Camping World, do I need to order direct from the manufacturer?

Since I have a Ford F-350 long-bed with the pre-drilled hole-set from Ford in the back, is there a recommended model of B&W?

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed their 2-cents. It's worth much more to me.

Just to make sure of what you have. The Ford factory 5th wheel hitch prep is more than just holes drilled in the bed. It also has underbed mounts, with parts of the mounts slightly sticking up thru the holes in the bed. The holes in the mounts are somewhat oval in shape to accept the hitch attachment pins. And the special hitches have those pins on the bottom of each corner that drop into those holes. And the bed will have a fifth and larger hole in the center of the other 4 for an optional gooseneck ball.

If that is what you have, then the three hitches I mentioned in my earlier post will work. And you can order them from a number of on-line sellers. Google the one you think you like and check prices. The price can vary quite a bit from one seller to another.

All three of those hitches have the wrap around latching mechanism. That is the type I myself prefer.

I have a Reese R20. It's a newer model that not many here have that I know of. Last year when I was looking, Trailer Life did a review on hitches and this was one covered. Although I haven't had a fifth wheel before, I am pleased with the performance of this hitch. I certainly don't get all the banging around others have mentioned with the Reese. The rails are a non-issue for me. There is a lot of hoopla for the B+W going around, also. Not just here but on other sites as well. That's fine. All I know is this does the job for me, an admitted newbie to the 5th wheel towing world.

So last November, I bought a new Ram 3500 diesel along with a new Montana 3400 RL. Faced with the same decision, I looked at everything I could find, and settled on the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch. It is rated well above anything the 3400 RL will put on it, and it weighs like 70 lbs! I wasn't keen on the idea of hauling 400 lbs of pig steel in my truck with a traditional 5'er hitch.
My ram came fifth-wheel ready, so I put in a Reese drop-in ball and the rest is just pure bliss. No chucking, clanking noise. Couple and uncouple and even crazy angles between the truck and trailer. I can remove everything right down to a clean bed in 5 minutes, by myself. No friends or hoists required.
The best part is the hitch and ball together came to like $600 or somehting delivered to my door. Less than a third of what Camper World quoted me for a slider. A 10 year old could install the thing.
PM me if you would like pictures.

I bought my B&W turnover ball hitch set up at a local pick up accessory store and had them do the install they also did the spray on bed liner. I'm sure there is a store like this that can get the turnover ball set up if not go to the web site and contact them they will set you up. I got a good deal on my hitch as they got to do the whole package deal. Very happy with my hitch and love how it comes out in two pieces easy to handle.hope this helps.

Curt Q24. Easy operated, built in the USA. Great people to work with during install. Ford prep can be a pain. Hope more work a rounds have been developed!
