after market trailer hitch
As you can tell by my inquiry's I am still learning.I have a 3155rl Montana and would like to take a couple bikes with us on our travels. I really don't like the bike rack for the latter. I would prefer a bike rack that goes into a trailer hitch. Our new Montana doesn't have a hitch. Is there anyway to put one on without hurting the the RV? Again thanks for you reply's and help.

You might take a look at Hidden Hitch if you don't have a fab shop make up a hitch and install it.
I have had one on two different Monty's. It has worked well for me.
It just bolts to the frame rail. You will need to drill 4 holes in the frame rail to attach it.
You can do a search for the best price.

We have a 2014 RL and we had a hitch installed by a fab shop that the RV dealer uses all the time. They did a great job, it looks like it came this way from the factory.

I seem to remember some mentioning there was a question about it affecting warranty (assuming you are still under warranty).

Correct!
Previous postings and inquiries have stated that the Lippert frame warranty will be voided by the addition of a hitch to the frame. Food for thought.

Yah, I guess it's not saying much for Lippert. How many older RV's had bumper mounts. Even Cougars that had heavy spares bouncing around on them. What's happened..? Are they afraid of folks towing heavy boats behind them???

Bill, you can bet on that! Was passed last year on the downhill side of Ratoon Pass by a guy with a newer Big Horn towing a large ski boat. He was doing about 75 and towing the whole thing with an older Chevy 2500. More issues there than I could count.

There have been several folks who put a receiver hitch on the front of their truck and haul their bikes up there. In fact, when I get the money, we plan on doing that ourselves.

Front receiver hitch or a pin box hitch I think are your two best options.

Our 3800 came with a hitch as well...but I wouldn't use it for anything more than holding a portable vise or one of the additional brake lights you see on pickups. John

I am sure the hitch we put on probably did void the warranty....I figure the frame (failing) is the least of my worries. We have had several RV's over the past 30 years, plenty of things went wrong at one time or another but never any frame issues. Just my 2 cents worth....
