Thank you, thank you, thank you for the aita website. We head out of Virginia Beach in a few hours for the western part of the state and I had the potential of running into 5 seperate low clearances, including some that could result in my being fi

Well, shoot, Bill and Lisa. I wish we'd known you are in Virginia Beach. We would have loved to meet you folks. We've been in Williamsburg since 3/15 but leave this Sunday. Hmmm, did I see your name on the list for the NE Rally? If so, we'll meet you there.

I know I have already responded to this query, but I rechecked that AITI truckers bridge heights web page and found out that one of the routes that I was going to take leaving the Montana Rally in Branson heading for Kansas had two bridges that were at 13'8". Although were at 13'4", I decided to use rt-71 vice rt-13 instead. I also dowloaded all 45 pages of it so I can keep it handy on the way back to Va. No sense taking a chance.

Ken, how far north were you planning to take 13? One of those bridges is just east of Kansas City. The other NE of KC. We've taken 13 to just south of KC from the Branson area with no problem. It's good road. Just an fyi for those who might be considering going north out of Branson on 13.

Our experience with the low bridge was in Alabama, I think on hwy 10, two years ago. We saw a sign that said "Low Underpass" and not giving it much thought, proceeded through the intersection. Then the next sign was "9ft 6ins". That sign and seeing the old RR underpass {probably been there siince the late 1800's and was being kept as a "Historical Site"), got my attention. I turned around in a small parking lot and went back to the traffic light and followed the detour signs. Saved the top of the "Condo" anyway. Another Great Experience.

Thank you all for the very useful information.

Does anyone have an idea why WA state has a minimum and maximum height?

Just doesn't make sense to me.
