We also have a 2016 3792RD and our den slides and the bedroom slide are all Schwintek and the kitchen and dining are hydraulic. I'm surprised that some have cable slides.

We had the same issue with the gearboxes on our 2015 3791rd, both stripped out. The representative at Norco Bal said they've had issues with the gearboxes and have upgraded the replacements to a more stout design. We'll see.

Did you buy your gear boxes from the dealer or Norco? And how much were they thanks.

I had an extended warranty that covered the repair. The mobile repairman that fixed the slides ordered them from Norco. There was only a $50 deductible that I paid so I don't know what Norco charged him for the two gearboxes.

I have a gearbox with broken teeth problem right now, probably due to ice on the slide when I started retracting . I would rather have gear box damage than something pulled loose or broken due to super strong gears causing structural damage.

I would rather the spring shaft break as it is designed to do rather than have the gear box strip gears... The spring shaft is a cheap and easy fix, the replacement of the gearbox not so much.... They know they have issues with them (yes the new upgraded gearbox) but BAL has yet to do anything nor are they providing owners with any compensation for their known issues with the gearbox's... Only good thing for most is they fail on the way out not on the way in so they stay closed going down the road. I'm not so sure yours will stay closed given you indicate the gears broke while retracting in. Good luck

Mine wont go out or in just makes the noise but looks like its trying to retract after i try to go back out again. Started making noise right after it started going out and some how it came back in making the noise and I knew it wasn't going to be good. Is there a way to determined if it's the spring shaft or the gears stripped?

You can see the spring shaft if you get a short step ladder, get someone to operate the switch and watch with a flashlight, if the spring shaft is turning on the electric motor end and still turning on the gearbox end then it is the gears that are done. I expect if it is moving slightly then the gears are likely toast.
You can likely get it to move by assisting it with your strength while someone operates the switch...
Good luck

I have replaced one of my gearboxes myself. In order to easily access the work area the slide needed to be moved in about a foot from the full extended position. To support the slide when tension was removed I used a set of X-chocks between the wall and the upper face of the slide (one on each end of the slide). I marked each chain at the first link next to the gear by using a plastic zip tie in order re-install it exactly as before. To maintain tension on the cables when I loosened the nuts at the chain attachment point, I used bungee cords. I have attached a few pictures to show some detail.
Coincidentally, the X-Chocks are a BAL/Norco product, the same manufacturer of the AccuSlide system.

I ordered my new gearbox from Colaw RV in Carthage, MO (about $50-60?), had them drop ship from Norco to me, overnight ($70?)
