Will 5th wheel rails & a truck bed camper work?
Thinking of buying a truck bed camper for use in making short trips and off road
camping and still want to be able to keep the Monty. Does anybody use a truck bed camper and still use the 5th wheel trailer?
If so, how do you deal with the rails in your truck bed?

If you use a B&K turn over ball and the B&K Companion hitch you will be go to go.

If you have rails just put something in the bed like 1X4s that are higher than the rails.

dpam, I had asked the same question at a couple of local Rv dealers. Both dealers said to use either 2x4's or 2x6's to build a raised floor the same height of or just a bit higher than the rails. The camper will then just slide in right over top of the rails. I didn't buy a truck camper so I don't know how good this would work.

Pullrite superglide hitches are completely removable from the bed floor. Nothing left but 4 holes.

I had the same issue and what I did was to buy pink foam, some luan and spray glue. I then glued the foam to the luan and cut it into three pieces to fit in in front of the rails, in between the rails and the last one behind the rails. I was not worried about the small spans over the rails. Light weight and more than capable of holding up to the light weight of a camper when you take the square feet of surface area verse the weight of the camper.i was going to sandwich the foam but never got around to it. My camper was an Arctic Fox 990 Special Edition that weighed well over 4K pounds. At work we used to put large heavy pieces of polished steel on the regular cheap white styrofoam, didn't even make a mark because of weight per square inch.

My 2012 ford uses frame mounted system that the reese hitch plugs into. With it removed, I only have four holes that get rubber plugs installed. John
