It's great that the flight recorder did it's job. Hope all works out, but hang in there, life could suck way more. John

Update, the flight recorder did its job. It's a bad fuel pump. They are calling in to get warranty approval and order the part. Now comes the nervous part. Anybody that has followed the Ford Fuel Pump drama will know why. Fingers cross I should get her back tomorrow or Friday.

If they don't find rust or dirt in it you should be fine. Which one is bad the lift pump or the HPFP.

Lynwood they didn't say and I failed to ask he simply said fuel pump. My guess is lift pump with the location of the sound. Broken lift pump should be much easier to pass the Ford warranty test than the HPFP I suspect. Mind you, i'm a computer guy not a mechanic so for all I know it's the Flomerator .

I put an after market filters and lift pump on my truck. The pump is good for 10 GPM and the filters are about 5 inches in diameter and 14 inches long. One is a10 micron the other is a 2 micron. If the pump should quit you will be able to hear it isn't working and the filters can be drained by bending over and opening a drain cock. You don't even haft to get down on your knees.

She is fixed! Low pressure fuel pump was the culprit. No bad fuel, no issues with Ford, nothing but a bad LPFP. The flight recorder did its job and gave the dealer enough info to allow for the replacement. Thank goodness for Hemborg Ford in Norco, they saved me from the clowns at the other dealer who almost sniff tested me into a $10k Plus bill to replace the fuel system. I'll be working with Ford corporate to recoup some of the expenses incurred due to that first bad fuel misdiagnosis.
Thank you all for the positive input and helping me to stay focused on a positive outcome. This had me so stressed out. Being fulltime and not having a truck for an unknown amount of time, had this gone south, would have put a major kink in this lifestyle, my work and my sanity.

Well that was a good two weeks. She's going back in on Saturday. Hasn't failed and limped home yet but the pump is making all kinds of noise again. Same symptoms as last time with out the check engine light and reduced power. Since I'm now sure it's fuel system related I spent a few minutes playing around and investigating: Turn ignition to on and prime it 5 or 6 times and 30% of the time it goes away.. All depends on what it feels like doing. I pulled some fuel off and it looks perfect, no water, no clouding, no flotsam. Wanted to pull out the hammer and bang on the pump but thought better of it.
This is the last attempt before I seek arbitration under the CA Lemon Law. I found a Ram local to me that I'd buy in a heart beat if the depreciation loss wouldn't hurt so bad. I don't want the Ram but it's no fun driving on the interstate in the slow lane waiting for your year old dream truck to die again. I feel like the kid in the swimming pool who's afraid to move away from the side of the pool. "If I change lanes I may not be able to get to the shoulder w/o getting creamed when she dies."

I hate taking my truck to the dealership for anything. You always run the risk of getting it back in worse shape than when it went in.
You pay a ton of money for the truck, it shouldn't be a nightmare ownership experience.
Not a good advertisement for Ford (yes, I know all makes have their issues). Please keep us posted. Knowledge is power.

That is so sad, who really needs this aggravation in their lives. I hope it comes to a resolution real soon so you can move on. Keep us posted.

Maybe something as simple as vacuum in the gas system, bad gas cap or pinched fuel line somewhere.

Whatever it is, it went away on it's own again. Saturday the truck started and ran w/o issue or noise. Drove towards the dealer and decided to just drive it till she dies. Didn't want to drop off and be stuck in a Kia for 4 days with a nonreproducible issue. Ended up putting 250 miles on her with 8 or 9 stops and restarts but not one issue.

See.... swinging the rubber chicken over your head worked just like the owners manual said it would.

And back to the shop she goes. I need another rubber chicken. Same issue, no noise this time just low fuel pressure, reduced power.

We have resolution! Truck is now gone and replace with a 2016 Ram 3500. Too bad 'cause I loved that truck, not to mention the financial hit. Last word from Ford was "We want to put another recorder on it, if we don't find anything new we want to tear down the engine and look for fuel contamination".. Done with Ford, done with the stress. Back to my life..

Going through similar problem with my 2012 Duramax. GM keeps saying bad fuel def. However neither has been tested by them! I do not trust the truck! Now researching gasser like Ford 6.2 or Hemingway 6.4.

May the force be with you on the new ram. Lemons are lemons no matter the brand. Swing that chicken some more to build up some good karma around the new truck. John

You gave them time to solve the problem. It's not your fault they couldn't. Problem solved.
