Curt hitch ?

I have a cheap worn out hitch that I am looking to replace. I think the Curt Q20 or Q24 is what I'm going to get. There are a lot of positive reviews on Curt but they all seem from new owners and not one that has been in use for awhile. Anyone have the Curt with enough pulling that can comment on how they hold up?
Thanks for you input.

Do yourself a favor and take a look at B & W. The Patriot should be enough hitch for your rig. 2 years ago I got rid of my Reese and got a Patriot and couldn't be happier. Got from Tweetys for about $425 delivered.

Despite previous replies ... I've had a Curt Q20 for over 6 years with no issues what so ever. They are a sturdy clamshell hitch and have a handy built in indicator of whether you are correctly hooked up or not right on the handle. I had Reese hitches with the un-greaseable steel on steel pivot pin on the head wearing out till I went Curt. It fit right on the Reese rails and the price was right. Like tow vehicles ... everyone has their loyalties.

My brother put a Q20? in his new Silverado last fall, but hasn't towed yet with it. It came highly recommended by the rv supply store we've both dealt with for many years.

I almost bought the Q20 as I had read good reviews. I really was interested in the spherical axial bearing as it sound like it should provide a smooth 360 degree movement of the hitch. The rest of the hitch manufactures use a two way (90 degree) opposite rocker system. It does work ok I just think the spherical bearing might be smoother. Maybe someone with a Q20 Curt will post some information. The only reason I went with my Reese R20 is that it had a higher 5k verse 3.5k vertical weight rating. I am very happy with my Reese R20. No chucking, no noise easy to hitch up and to unhitch with a positive engagement marker that you can see in your mirror. I also bought it used with minimal usage. Do some more research.
Good luck.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Curt Hitch. Love mine and they are a great company to work with I have Q24. Five years on a great American made product.

We've been using a Q20 since we purchased our fifth wheel also. Absolutely no problems with it. I'm really happy with it.

Great hitch IMHO i purchased my Q 20 slider after researching hitches for many months. I've pulled my 3791RD 3000 miles with no issues. Also like the fact it has the spherical bearing and is grease able. It's a bit heavy to load and unload from the truck but not impossible to do by yourself (I'd recommend some help though). The visual indicators for latched is also a great feature. I'd recommend the Q 20 with no reservations. Got mine at JC Whitney..

Happy towing with whatever brand you hitch up to!!!!

Over two years and 15k miles with no big problems. Two minor ones were my breaking off one of the zerks while trying to grease it and one of the rubber bushings a pin goes through coming apart (easy replacement). No problems towing or hitching/unhitching ever.

Just want to thank you for taking the time to respond. They were all helpful. Think I have decided on the B&W Patriot. The Patriot and Curt both get good reviews but I like the fact the Patriot has 1" increment vertical adjustment. My hitch height has to be just right to clear truck bed but not too high or bike rack drags at dip on my drive.

Looks like you got it figured out and I am sure you will be happy with your new hitch. I don't remember seeing a newer style hitch that isn't vertically adjustable. Usually between your actual fifth wheel pin box and the truck hitch you can have quite a bit of adjustment. Older pin boxes also let you adjust forward and backward. I am not sure on the new ones. Most of them seem to be designed to help out short box truck owners.

I believe you'll be happy with the B&W Patriot.
Though I've only pulled once (so far) with my B&W RVK3600 Companion, it was smooth as silk and EZ to connect/disconnect. Well designed and very capable.
Enjoy your new hitch!

Thanks Tom. They all do have vertical adjustment but the B&W has 4 adjustments in 1" increments (16"-19"). The Curt has 3 adjustments in 2" increments (13"-17").
RV's hitch has two positions and is 2 1/2".
Possible to get more precise combination with B&W.
PS: Nice house

Not to hijack the thread, but some of you mentioned not being able to grease a Reese. I have a Reese, and it has grease fittings that I regularly service. What's up?

Paul I was not aware of the different amounts of increments between the two hitches. My R20 also has the one inch increments which i prefer for fine tuning the clearance between truck rails and fifth wheel. As I stated before the Curt only give 3500 lbs vert rating. It seems that B&W has a very loyal ownership base which must mean they have good products.
Thanks for the compliment on our house. It took a lot of work on both my wife's and my part. She did the paperwork side and I did the General Contractor and as many subcontractor tasks as I could do while we both had our full time jobs and raising two kids.

I have a three year old Q 20 Curt hitch that has been giving me problems. I finally decided to call Curt Manufacturing today, they were very helpful and are sending me out a brand new one. I have to say their customer service was great.

I have a B&W. Beyond happy with it. Easy to latch up and unhooking is a non event.

You will love how smooth the B&W works.

With all the hitches, please remember they need attention. Have ran into people who were not aware of needing to re torque the bolts. Grease the necessary fittings. I have mine inspected 3-4 times a year. I heard of bolt rusting problems with some hitches, therefore what ever you buy, keep close eye on it. My Curt has been flawless and still looks new, but I try to take care of it. Just FYI. Oh and it's true, everyone who see's my Curt operate is impressed...had to add that...lol
