oops!
Pulled into the last station on 93 before I40 in Kingman AZ. Had to do a tight U-turn to line up with the pump.. POP! I jacked it too far, the back window of the truck is now scattered all over the back seat and a good portion of it is dispersed along I-40. I tried to duct tape on both sides to get us to Williams but most of it blew into the back seat about 10 miles east of Kingman. Beau usually rides back there but for this trip I had Betsy take him just in case. Good thing I did. We stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel and I called AAA during lunch. I should have a new back window in the truck by tomorrow afternoon. I cannot believe I have driven the rig all over the country for 7 years and not done this before. Oh well, I guess I need to pay attention again..

Ozz joined that club a couple of years ago. Since I don't ever use my slider I figure my turn will come at some point. Glad to hear you have the fix under control.

Same thing happened to me on Tuesday. I pulled into a cafe parking lot, you know the one where you can make a wide turn for truck parking and half way thru the turn "pop". I was not as lucky as I have damage to the cab... I did not think I could turn tight enough to hit the cab while driving forward.. Now looking at a pullrite hitch replacement head...

I have been lucky so far. I recently lowered my Reese one notch down because my unit was so high in the front while towing. I should have closer to 7" of space between truck bed rails and Montana now, instead of closer to 9". When I hook up in a couple of weeks I am going to have to really check my front to rear window clearance to see if that made a difference.

Did Bo jump up on Betsy's lap when it happened? Sorry to hear it happened but as LC said "Stuff happens" but I'd use a different word instead of Stuff!

Only RVer with a short bed who has not done that is probably the RVer who is going to.

I was lucky not to have dinged the cab, the rig hit the window about 6 inches into the left (drivers) side and about 6 inches down from the top so I would have had to really torque it tight to hit the cab. That was my first turn past 81 degrees. I left that sticker on the rig for almost a year after we got it just to remind me LOL...

I just knew this would be something I would do someday so I invested in a Superglide just to protect myself from myself. Sorry to hear about your accident but glad it's just the window.

A good reminder to those who say "I have towed with short bed and no slider for _x_ years and no problem."

I have read many posts about not needing a slider with a short bed. I sure am glad that there were a few on this forum that said to get a Superglide. That is what I did and am very happy with it. Glad no one got hurt.

Glad to hear everything worked out. You'll be finding glass shards for years. I am always looking to see how close I am with the Mega Cab. So. Far, so good, but I do have the slider.
