We drive right through on 75, just not at rush hours. We have found many tie ups on the bypasses. Also, welcome to the forum.

75 straight through. The so called by-pass can be more congested and is a longer way around.

we go right threw on 75 not the by-pass, we just do it very early or very late and have no problems. We used to do the by-pass and what a nightmare.

We always use rt 11 from Macon to Pendergrass and then onto 85. Easy haul and peaceful. They rt all trucks onto the bypass so if you don't use 11 go straight through. Dan

Never use either. Straight through on I-75. Much easier than trying to do the bypass.

Straight through, and make your "Pit Stops" before you get in the mess of it. Sat on one of the by passes for over an hour before.

We used to live there...it all depends on the time of day. If at rush hour (AM, noon or PM) take 285 west...other times stay on 75 right through town.

Try I-285 once and you will realize why everyone says "use I-75 straight thru". If you get caught in rush hour, your wait will still be less time and safer.

We also go straight through. Someone above mentioned to take your pit stop before starting your adventure through this area. Absolutely. I have been stuck 20 miles north of Atlanta (before the bypass) AND up to 30 south (after the bypass). So even if you plan on going straight through, MAKE SURE YOU FILL UP WITH FUEL AND GET EVERYONE THROUGH THE BATHROOM BEFORE YOU HIT THESE TWO MARKS ON THE MAP. Guess I can't stress that too strongly.

Listen to the radio traffic reports on 640AM or 750AM. If no bad information is posted regarding the downtown connector, go straight through on I-75. If it sounds like gridlock on the downtown connector, take I-285 west towards Birmingham/Montgomery/etc. It is rarely as bad as the I-285 eastbound routing past "Spaghetti Junction", and the eastside inner perimeter.
Good luck.
