Bedroom TV not getting the SAT reception

I have an 06 3400 and cannot get the sat signal to the bedroom TV. I probably haven't tried every iteration but...

There is a plate with 1 connector labled CABLE/SATELLITE and another plate with 2 connectors with a coax going from 1 to the other on the same plate. I do not get any signal from the plate labeled CABLE/SATELLITE. I do get a signal from the bottom connector on the plate with 2 connections. But I cannot get the signal to the bedroom.

Anyone with any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
-Dick

While I am trying to set my own sat up, first thought is to make sure that the antenna booster is cut off. it is the pushbutton on the cable switch in the bedroom.
My only thought. I can retire for the day.

Yep I thought of that too. But you can still retire for the day Jim. ;^) It just seems odd that the plates were mislabled or am I trying to do something the wrong way?

Thanks Jim for your input.

Dick, First off there may be a better way to do this than my way. I used a splitter coming out of the receiver, one leg to the LR tv and the other to the BR tv. I hate to go to parks and use there cable because it takes some re-wiring to get the cable to the tv since everything is set up to run through the Sat. Like mentioned above you must have the booster turned off.

Thanks Rick....This coach has a splitter and after a closer inspection, I see one is connected to the TV and the other goes to the FM connection on the DVD player (also has AM/FM radio). I took that end and plugged it to the plate labeled CABLE/SATELLITE and I have a signal to the br TV.

Thanks again for all of your help.

This is copied and modified from my response to a similar question in the "Let us entertain you" forum.
First, you can keep the coaxial connection for FM reception if your satellite receiver has "RF in" and "RF out" connections.

The outside coax connector labeled cable/satellite accepts either cable or satellite feeds. There is a short jumper cable inside the cabinet under the TV (in the 2955, not sure where it is in the 3400). Leave the jumper cable in place when you are using the rooftop antenna, and engage the booster button for the antenna in the bedroom closet. When you are using cable TV, again leave the jumper cable in place, but disengage the booster button (the green pilot light will go off). Finally when you are using a satellite dish, disengage the booster button and remove the short jumper cable. Some owners have discovered that the wiring is not consistent, but one of the connections to which the jumper was attached should be connected to the "satellite in" connection on your satellite receiver; the other should be connected to the "out to TV," or "RF out" on the receiver. That will provide a signal to both televisions.

If you wish to get more complex, you can use an A/B switch on the "satellite in" cable. One cable from the switch would go to the "satellite in" connection on the receiver. The other would go to the "RF in" connection on the same satellite receiver. Switching between A and B would allow you to view campground cable or your own satellite dish, respectively. Also, when the cable position on the switch is selected, this completes the circuit that the short loop connection provides. You don't need to replace that short piece when viewing cable or antenna.

If you wish to pull the TV from the living room cabinet (it's screwed into place with wood screws through its plastic chassis), you can run an s-video connection between the satellite receiver and the TV. It's difficult job, but worthwhile if you get around to replacing the Qwest system with a better receiver and DVD player. Might as well replace the speakers while you're at it...

Thanks Steve. I was wondering when the jumper needed to be used.

Sorry but that picture was too big and doesn't meet the guidelines. When I finish this post I will edit it to be just a link. I tried making it smaller but then you cannot read the print.

I already captured it so no need to resend on my account. But it would be good reference for anyone doing a forum search.

Thanks again Steve.
