Bedroom Windows

We have a 2003 3670 and the bedroom windows are awful! We have double pane windows and the large window does not open for ventilation, the small windows and each side of the bed in the slide only open about 2 inches. Who designed these? Please put larger windows in the bedrooms for better ventilation when the a/c is not on.

Perhaps this has been done in the newer models. Our 2006 3475RL does have a large window that opens (with the push out rod) and the window beside the bed (this model only has window on one side of bed) slides up at least eight inches. We do have a small fan (six inch mini) we set on the top of the dresser to circulate the outside air when we are not using the AC. We prefer sleeping with the natural air rather than AC.

We had trouble with our side windows not going up more than 2 inches, there was slag from the manufacture of the windows along the inside track, dealer removed, they go up like Joyce describes now.

Big window, does not have screen on many units with double pane, some members have made a screen for their units, search the archives.

Gloriad, I suggest you see your dealer about the side windows.

We have just replaced the large bedroom window . In January, while traveling to Georgia, the bedroom window either came open from the rough roads or someone hit the lever while pulling down the blinds because it wasn't hooked well. The window was shattered completely when we stopped for the night.
Our repairman argued that the window was not to be used for ventilation..and my husband argued yes that it was..we have been using this window for ventilation for 4 years. The repairman said it was only for emergency situations and that when there is red on the lever that means that it is not to be opened otherwise.
The new window, which was just installed this week has a different type latch on it and I think that it will secure the window much better.
If anyone has any ideas about this, I would like to know.

Shirley, My take, if there is a screen, I am gonna use it for ventilation, red or no red! Sorry, this time we don't agree with your repairman.

Be interesting to hear if anyone else has had this explained to them that way.

Our side windows open about half way. No double pane windows so the big window pushes out and it does have a screen.

Carol, ours does have a screen, and we didn't hesitate to open it for ventilation. I think that you and David are exactly right about the window..it is for a dual purpose. Thanks for the input!

My bedroom window has a screen and I open it all the time to allow fresh air in. I have never heard that red means dont open or use unless in am emergency. I am with Carol on this one, use it as needed.

All red means is that it IS a emergency exit. Same as on a school bus...The color is a identifier and it opens differently.

I agree with Dave and Carol. When I first joined MOC there was a thread being discussed about the bedroom window. Dual panes do not have the screen and single panes do. I was really hoping ours would have the screen and it did. We have used it often for fresh air. I never heard of red is for emergency only and we've been at this RVing for many years. I think you tech guy is nuts. IMHO.
Happy trails...................

The repairman who told you that needs his "sign". Like in, "H.....ere's your sign!"

When we purchased our Monty the guy that did the walk through told us that you could open and use it like a window but to be careful to have it closed b/c the window could fall out. He said they did there share of replacing them. We use the window and I try to remember to double check it.
