2014 Ram question

I have a question for you Ram guys. I had oil and filters changed on my 2014 Ram. Is it possible to change front fuel filter without knocking dust off the lid?

Not if I was doing it! My money on that did not change it! If you have the set up that tells fuel filter useage
It should have been reset? Good luck Tom

Hmmmmm is it possible? heck yeah....would I do it Heck no......You never want dirt to drop down in the filter housing when taking the old one out. I mean how long does it take to take a rag and wipe off the top of the filter to get the dirt and sand and what ever off before you remove the lid....

It is very easy to change, I'd check the bottom of the canister for some drippings. I know when I do it, I always have drippings.

I don't trust a dealer any further than I can throw them, so I ask for the old filters back when they replace them. Make sure you take a plastic tub so they can place the old filters in the tub instead of the truck bed.

I changed mine a while back, first I washed the engine with Simple Green, using common sense around electrical stuff. Then re-washed the fuel container with a rag and Dawn.

Next drain the canister for about 10 seconds, loosen lid to break seal and finish draining canister. This will usually result in diesel being dripped somewhere. Now unscrew lid with hand, remove and replace filter inside canister. Remove old O-ring from lid, install new O-ring and re-install canister lid.

Can you do this with a dirty lid? and not leave prints, Nope......

Jim

Mine @16K miles. The black is not dirt, it is the result of the fuel getting hot and cooking the material Tar is made out of out of the fuel. Normal condition.
