new truck
I need some advice, we have a 2007 Dodge 3500, quad, auto, 5.9 DRW, I am considering a new '13 3500 quad,4WD,DRW, with the 68RFE trans, any feedback of anyone that has one and issues with it, I really don't want to make a mistake here, the 5.9 does well, but it would be nice to have some more power, we have a 2011 Montana 323RL, around 11K.

I would only suggest you drive several and look at all the reviews.

Pros; Great ride lots of comfort and just a more relaxing drive....little more power and tranny should hold up well.
Cons: The only con I can think of is fuel mileage....compared to your truck now the fuel mileage of the 6.7 is downright terrible.....
Since we spend lots of hours in our truck traveling we traded fuel mileage for comfort. If you don't use it a lot maybe fuel mileage would win out but if you spend lots of time in the cab of the truck you might want the comfort.... If you drive one you'll probably trade....lol lol that's my down fall don't let me near a new truck or car

I have a 2009 with the 6.7 it has plenty of power to drag my Montana 3750. I average 11 MPG towing and 17 running around town. Empty on the highway I have averaged over 20, at 65 MPH. I think mine has mower power to the ground than newer trucks

I agree with the try them all way of looking at it. The features and the layout on some I found didn't fit me, others love them, so you just have to try them out.

The 68RFE won't give you any problems. We never saw much with them at all when I worked at a Dodge store. More minivans/Patriots.

When we bought the '13's were not out yet. Even tho I got 11K off sticker, I still have a 3 model year old truck. Buying a '13 now with '15's within sight, it needs a huge discount.
The '12 we have does everything we need. The exhaust brake is outstanding. The shifting and ability to control the 68RFE is excellent. The Aisin option allows for more power, if I was buying again, might consider it, but I don't need more power.
If getting a 68RFE I would insist on getting the Max Tow option, it gives you a second tranny oil cooler. In looking on the '13 order specs I do not see that option, so they may have included it. Tow Max was a second tranny oil cooler and a finned rear diff cover in '12.
As mentioned earlier, expect your MPG to take a huge hit.

Thank all of you for your response, still debating about what to do exactly, also, on how anxious the dealer is to sell it, we will see, I will advise when I decide.

Drive all of them and then see what you like and dislike about each one, THEN make choose the model you like best and make the dealer sharpen the pencil to get the best deal!

Fuel economy is really the only negative thing I can say about my 12' Ram 3500 DRW truck. It is not as quick as the Ford or Chevy, but once you get the load rolling, the power ban comes to life on the Cummins. Drive all three, work your best deal, find the truck you like the best and take the plunge.
