When we had the Mid-Atlantic Rally there a couple of years ago, we stayed at Fort Chiswell. Bingo would be the one who would know of anything closer.

There are very few options in this immediate area. As Jim mentioned, the best facilities are in Wytheville, which is about an hour and a half away or in the Charleston area which is about an hour awawy. Some have stayed at the Exhibition Coal Mine campground, but I would not recommend it due to ninety degree turns on narrow roads with power poles placed strategically to give you trouble. There are spots that can handle your rig at Camp Creek, but they are not full hook-up. Camp Creek is about 15 miles from Beckley, There are full-hook ups at Lake Stephens State Park which is about 7 miles outside of Beckley, but you will be on typical twisty-curvy West Virginia roads to get there. Perhaps others know more than I, but the choices are limited for a large rig in this area.

If you want to go a little south an hour or so, Pipestem State Park is nice. It's worth spending a few day exploring. We camped there a few years ago when our grandson was living in the area. Very scenic!

There is rv parking at the convention center. Not much more than a parking lot but cheap. Here is a link

Stayed at the Exhibition Coal Mine Park last year. . . as Bingo says it's a little tight getting into but doable if you don't mind backing upgrade into a blind-side parking site. If you do go DO NOT follow your GPS as you get close - use a map, I had to drive thru the exit of the Exhibition Center to avoid backing down a long twisty street.
I'm just saying . . .

Our favorite park in the Beckley area is Shady Rest RV Park, east of Beckley off exit 133 (I think). We've stayed there 3 times. Not a fancy park. Not a lot of extras. No swimming pool. But just very quiet and relaxing. It's been a few years, though, since we've been there. I believe the address is at Shady Spring, WV.

Thank you everyone, we made it in yesterday, at the convention center. Sure is inexpensive enough and really easy to get into perfect for us. Thinking about adding an extra day or so, then on to Elizabethtown Kentucky. Sure wouldn't want to try the coal mine exibition campground, doable but wow don't make a wrong turn. Love the area though, just wish it would stop raining. Again thank you every one MOCs the best!
