Hot water reroute to kitchen sink, no wasted water

My Mountaineer 375FLF has the hot water tank in the pantry/clothes washer closet. It is not more than ten feet from the kitchen sink. We timed the amount of time it took to get hot water to the sink. 20+ seconds. A lot of wasted water if you are dry camping. I know a plumber(me)so my wife talked him into rerouting the hot water line from the tank to the sink. I cut in a tee at the water heater and ran it through the cabinet to the sink, capped off the line where it came from the underbelly and connected to the faucet. It now takes less than 6 seconds to get the hot water.

Good mod. My water heater is directly under the kitchen sink. Takes about 1 second for hot water!

Our water heater is 20' from our shower so I installed a solenoid valve with a push button to dump the cold water back into the holding tank. This allows us to save all this cold water. We would be wasting a lot of water if we did not do this. Every drop counts when dry camping. You did a great modification to you trailer and will be glad you did.

Great idea! Now if the hot water heater in ours wasn't 20 feet from the washing machine we could do something like that.

I really need to do something about this. The lavatory and shower need only 5 seconds for hot water. The kitchen sink takes over a minute and an instant hot water system would be pricey in dollars and power. I haven't done this because of the labor and time... shame on me.

We have the 375FLF also, if you're interested in improving your record maybe you'd like to modify ours too, perhaps you can get it down to under 4 seconds.
