Level first?

We always level first like most others. When we are in a spot long term, I have occasionally re-leveled after several months. Only happens rarely; when a door won't stay open or shut or etc, re-level with slides out and it fixes the problem.

Always have leveled first, never noticed any settling so far.

You allwes level first and then put out the slides but don't forget to caulk your tirs first!
been doing that way for about 25 years and never had any settling!

Always have leveled 1st. Have never had a unit settle enough to be a bother, actually never noticed any! Still, easy enough to hit the auto-level button again.

Our previous Montanas and any other RV we have had it was always: level first, then deploy slides. Same when breaking camp, retract slides, then retract landing legs/leveling legs and hook up. We were always told, especially on long slides, that they could bind if you were out of level too far.

Fast forward to our present RV. Starting last year with this model the manufacturer is saying just the opposite, slides out then level.

That is exactly what my manufacturing said when I picked my 381TH up three weeks ago. I thought it was alittle strange to.

It seems to me that the least strain on the frame and the slide mechanism would be to only operate the slides when you are level...but if you have settling over the time you are at that site, just "tweak" the leveling.

I guess if you are parked in a mud field or a pasture you may settle and we have been in both other than that we have never settled after setting up.

I have always leveled 1st. It's just our sequence that we stick to. If you happen to be parked strategically to miss trees or posts with the slides open you stand the risk of leveling into one of them. That has always been my reasoning anyway. I don't like to change the procedure for ANY reason-that's when something happens.

X2 What Mike just said. I always Level up 1st then slides.

Our dealer told us to level first and IF NEEDED we could push the "Auto Level" button a second time with the slides out.

Ditto on this info. Consensus on this thread is do what I do. Take strain off frame by leveling up prior to slides out. Follow the instructions from LCI to save the torque on the frame. Save yourself a bunch of headaches and expensive repairs.
And put the slides in prior to hooking up. STRAIN OFF FRAME
