J-Panel damage

We had a blowout this past summer which damaged the J-Panel on our 2955 just in fromt of the steps. I have talked with my dealer and found out that Keystone will only send out a very long replacement piece for about $350. The problem with this is I only need about a 58" piece and most of it surrounds the wheel opening. Have any of you had any experience with this kind of damage? Did you go to a dealer or a body shop to get it repaired?

Your casualty policy should pay for it less the deductible. My first experience, I took to an independent shop. The second experience I took to a dealer. The independent shop didn't quite match the paint. The dealer did a great job.

I think the panels come either in 12' or 14' lengths. If you have a storage area, keep the left over for the next blow out damage or have the dealer pay you for the extra length. If the dealer keeps it, he will charge the next guy for a full panel and use your left-overs to repair the other unit.

Seems we could almost pool together and keep it in stock with the MOC until all these mission tires go away.

I had this type damage fixed by the dealer. They had to buy the whole piece as well. They did a great job! They also had two other campers in there for the same blowout damage on the J panel.
