One question for those who have put the hide a bed in the rear and the recliners next to the dinette on the 3400--does the hide a bed in any way block the air flow from the windows on the sides or behind the hide a bed? I would have thought that the back of the hide a bed would come up to the height of the fixed window in the rear, which would put it higher than the two crank out windows below the fixed window in the rear.

The hide a bed isn't any higher than the chairs. There are so many windows in the 3400, we have no problem with light or fresh air.

Parrothead, This is probably dumb, but why did you say to never put the straps back on the recliners?

We moved the recliners and by putting the sofa cushions on either side they don't move. We never strapped down recliner in our other unit either. They are really to heavy to move but they will swivel so that is why we put the cushions beside them. The swiveling wouldn't hurt much but the farthest one does catch on the curtains if it swivels.
Bill and Sue
There are these plastic deflectors that you can put on the heater vent. Also you could replace the vent cover with one that closes. We have not been in really cold weather except for a few weeks so it hasn't made any difference to us. We've used the heater without any of the above modications for some time and there is enough room under the sofa for air flow so nothing gets too hot.

>>>Thanks every one for your input. My wife wants a 3600re except it looks like you can't see the tv from the rear recliner. If we go with this model I would want to delete the TV and add a flat screen on a swivel. The dealer told me you can't delete anything on the standard list. Very interesting. He also told me they all come with a king bed, but when you look at the options the king is extra money.

Also I have a 2006 and 2007 MSRP price list if any one needs a copy. Please email me off line and I will scan it and send it as a .jpg.

Thanks again,

Mike you guessed it, we went to Blue Crick and got some bad information from "Tony". We have not made the decision on a 3400 or a 3600 so it's a little early to be asking for prices. We purchased our 2980RL from D&L just north of Wenatchee and I think we got a good price and they have been real good to us.

Oasis is a good park with lots of trees but right on the highway and close to the R/R. Have you tried Stars and Stripes about 2 miles south of there? They have a good pool and some trees. If you turn west at the south end of the park and go 3 miles you will come to our home with the Montana sitting in the front yard.

The only golf I do these days is the one next to the entrance, that would be the put-put course. Thanks for the feed back.

What dealer have you been dealing with? There is BlueCrick in Spokane that is good and Chief's in Pasco. We bought from Chief's and they have always been pretty straight with us. I have found that when you can present cost data from another dealer that may dealers find ways to do things that "can't be done." Send Chief's an e-mail asking for a quote and see what happens.

BTW, I like the Oasis RV park there in Ephrata. Next time I will have to try the golf course alongside the park.

I really like the 3600RE, but just a word of caution, the carrying capacity is one of the smallest in the Montana fleet. The 3400RL has more carrying capacity, but not by much. Maybe that will help you in your decision. I am curious what Tony had to say, I have been very good friends with him and have done alot of business with him and Blue Crick.

That was THE main thing we looked for when we were shopping for fifth wheels. The 344 has all the furniture on the slides and we don't have a problem pulling the slides in. I just have to move the end table to the center of the couch/dining slide.

Dick,

I have not had the chance to use Stars & Stripes yet. I am going to try to get up that way in Sept or Oct and maybe I can try them out then. I may end up in Electric Ciy instead, my sister-in-law is working on a fixer upper. Do you know of any good places up there>

Mike, We have camped at Sun Banks Resort http://www.sunbanksresort.com/ and it is really growing. It is off the road and no trains. Lots of room but check to see what they have for sewer. As soon as you cross the bridge to Electric City the entrance will be on your left. That is if you are going North. There are some more in or past Electric City on the road but not sure how good they are. At that time of the year you won't need reservation.

Washington State has a park south of Electric City, Steamboat Rock http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp...0Rock&pageno=1. It's all reservations and very busy but nice. No Water during the winter.

Hope this works for you,
Dick

We know the sofa will fit in the rear of the 3400 although a tight fit with the slides closed, believe you would have to lift the cushions up (sofa bed).I am just wondering why Montana put the sofa where it is in the first place. Is there any rational as to where it is, Weight, Space, Etc, We like everything where it is and anyhow the bird will take up space back there..

Rich,

I wish I knew the answer to your questions. I've seen plenty of RV layouts and I always wonder why did they do this and that. The jacknife couch fits perfectly in the back. No need to remove the cushions and I still have some space on the sides.

I am wondering what the dimension between the slider and the back wall on the 3400. It's a long drive to the dealer so if some one has a measuring stick I would appreciate the info. On the 2980 2005 it's about 35 1/2" on the right side and a little more on the drivers side.

thanks in advance,
Dick

Steve - I had missed the discussion on you guys getting a new Monty. What model and when does it arrive? Best of luck.

5rvers, I think the jacknife sofa is the only one with screws. It might be necessary to have the screws so the couch doesn't move when you're breaking it down into a bed. I'm not sure about that.

Rldriver, sounds like you're dealer is making his own rules. We have a new Montana on order and should take delivery this week. We deleted one of the recliners for credit. We first talked with Keystone to make sure it is something we can do. Our salesman was on vacation. Make the actual change through the dealer, though.

The King bed is an extra cost option, as you noted, on our model. We declined that option and are getting the queen bed.

Either your dealer has his own rules or he's not fully educated. If you don't mind, I'll email you for a copy of your price sheet. I'd like to compare it to ours. I've always wondered how much of those price lists comes from Keystone and how much is the dealer's.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

But on the 3400 there is that little triangle thing on the street side so you can't set something in that corner for about maybe 10 inches. We have a little table there beside the couch. (Got rid of the one that came with Monty and put my parent's antique magazine rack with table there). I will say that if we want to use the hide a bed (we haven't yet after 2 years) we will have to move the recliners back against the wall. Our grandkids are grown (that is what happens when you marry young) and our kids only use the 5er when it is parked at the stick house - it is our guest house.

Sue..That little triangle thingy is the back side of the fresh water inlet. There are only a couple of hoses coming up through the flooring. You can cover those hoses with a lot smaller of a thingy. We are going to do that so we can have more room for our freezer,,Check it out.there are only two long screws (maybe) holding it in..
