I figured it was easier to just wear a crash helmet while setting up camp.

On our last camping trip in Albany, OR, I noticed the noodles on another Montana (also from BC) in a site across from us. Within an hour we were at Bi-Mart buying a noodle to put on our bedroom slide.
I made the cut a little different from bobsals. He cut his from the outside to the centre of the middle hole. I cut mine from the outside to one side of the centre hole. This provides a "hook" on one side of the noodle to "wrap around" the rubber seal at the bottom inside of the slide and almost locks the noodle in place.

We've been using the noodles for years and color coordinate them to our awning colors. Plus, I line the hitch with them as one night a friend who is not used to "short-cutting" under the front of a 5th wheel did, and he obtained a very nasty cut on his head from trying to stand up under the hitch. If you are a person who HAS hit your head on the edge of the slide or on the hitch, the noodles don't look so bad.
