Steve,
Are you in K.C., or Topeka?
If you are in K.C., we should meet for Coffee. (Also anyone else here in town.)

Ozz, we're in Independence, MO. Soon as things quiet down around here (brand new granddaughter, lots of babysitting of another, getting ready for the new Montana) maybe we can do just that. Give us a few weeks to get things settled down, if you would. Then we'd love to meet you folks.

What is the "2nd RTU" in your signature? It probably should be obvious but the level of hectic around here has my mind currently trying to hibernate.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

OK - I took the cover off the Monty to do some remeasuring and figure out why I am so high in the front with the second a/c unit.
13'8" was what I came up with originally and I was determined to solve the mystery.
I measured the Monty with and without the tv. Here are the measurements:

W/O TV - Ground to bottom of nose (by the pin) 63 1/2"
Ground to rear a/c - 12'6".
Ground to MaxxAir Turbo Fan by shower - 12'11"
Ground to Maxxair FanMate in bathroom - 12'11"
GROUND TO TOP OF SECOND A/C - 13'3"

With the TV - Drum Roll................. THE SAME MEASUREMENTS! And maybe 1/2" - 1" less. How can this be?? Surely I couldn't have measured wrong.
Well I don't know what went wrong the first time. My son was helping me before so I guess I'll blame it on him. Just kidding. I do know I've been beating myself up over this for more than a week and for nothing. So I guess that puts me within the same measurements as the rest of you. I feel a lot better about that. I still wish I had gotten the low profile unit but I feel a lot better about 13'3" than 13'8"!!! That's 3" less than the average 13'6", but it still makes me a bit jumpy going under those bridges.
Sorry for the confusion.

One question - Does any of the portable GPS units you put in your vehicle give bridge clearance heights? That would would be a real helpful tool to the RV industry. I'll be the first to buy one. It could really help one's trip planning.

I'm pretty sure he means Roof Top Unit. That's what I call our at work.

Ozz, I had an email from John Hogan. I think he's going to try to get us together for lunch one of these days.

Thanks CS413 on the RTU explanation.

Also, if the pin is lower when on the truck then that's probably where you're getting less height on the Montana. Just a guess.
