Future of the Duramax?

If I heard correctly today General Motors has announced a proposed alliance, this is not a buyout, with Nissan/Renault for a 30% share of GM for 3 billion dollars. Renault owns 44 percent of Nissan, while Nissan owns 50 percent of Renault. Will the Duramax retain it is connection to Isuzu or will GM give it a complete makeover. Maybe the Nissan/Renault infusion will apply to cars only.

Unless GM is building the Duramax under license from Isuzu I wouldn't think an alliance with someone else would matter. Do either Nissan or Renault have a good diesel that would replace the Duramax?

While talking with GM, I have been told that the Nissan deal will have no effect on the Isuzu/Duramax deal. GM is looking at Nissan for other reasons. GM has been very happy with the performace and durability of the Duramax and has no plans of going to another diesel motor. Just what I heard..........

Never can tell, but think about another 100K or so still left in the
F-250.
