Video-Batwing Antenna maintenance- HOW TO
Easy to understand. This is supposed to be a semi-annual maintenance item. This is the 1st time done on my rig since new.

Nice find Jay! I guess I've never thought about the antenna and it's mechanism for maintenance. Now I'll have to add that to my check list of things to do!

I especially like the dead fly that drops on to the roof when they raise the antenna!!!
One thing that they forgot was to replace the plastic plug in the rotating gear housing after they sprayed down the hole. Other than that, good info.

My sound wasn't working on the video. What type of spray did he use for lubrication?

Not sure if that is worth all the trouble seeing as the first trip down the road in a rain storm won't be any silicone left after the first 10 miles. White lithium grease would do better but not sure even that would hang on in the hurricane created driving down the road in a rain storm.

Time will tell if silicone will address the binding issue on a long term basis or just blow off with rain & wind going down the road.
I just did the procedure this A.M. as shown on the video and the antenna goes up & down smooth as butter. MAJOR improvement. White lithium may be an answer (if it doesn't attract and retain grit) if the silicone doesn't stick.
