closet door lock
Does anyone know if there is an after market latch for the sliding glass door on the closet in the bedroom for our 2011 3400RL? We had a plastic one break and need to replace it.
Thanks in advance.

They can be ordered by your dealer and are available at most rv aftermarket shops (even camping world). Hopefully your rig had the black, flexible type, if they are the hard clear plastic ones, best idea is to replace them. Many forum members have reported success by adding small o-rings behind the clips to allow a little more flexibility. A forum search on "closet door latch" will yield some threads to detail the choices above.

Ours came with the clear ones and they lasted quite a while. Replaced them last summer with the black ones with the little handle on them. They didn't last at all. The handles broke off. At least they still hold the door shut. Most dealers carry them in stock.

It's a common enough problem that some were sold at the fall rally last year. I bought spares then since I had already broken one in the first months we owned the rig and, of course, since I now have spares the replacement ones are lasting.

D.W. breaks one everytime she opens the door. I bought a case of them and have a small socket wrench in the closet to replace them with.I am getting pretty good at replacing them.I wish they were made out of a metal with some flex in it.

If they break regularly, try the small o-ring trick behind the latch and around the connecting screws. It increases the available flexing and should help to prevent breakage.

We just gave up on the latches and use a springy curtain rod to hold the door closed when dragging the 5W around.

We got tired of replacing them. I installed sticky back Velcro and it works great. Closet door stays closed on all roads.

We gave up on replaceing them all the time. I cut a piece of 3/4 pvc to the perfect lenght to lay in the track on the floor, for traveling, and remove them when in camp. They work great.

I gave up on those plastic clips.
I replaced them with a 'U' shaped hook latch. The latch main part I screwed to the frame, the reciever part the hook fits into I glued to the mirror with 3M5200. Used some tape to hold the part in place untill the adhesive set.
The glass must be clean for the 5200 to adhere but adhere it will and will need to be sliced off if you want to move it.
I left a hair of slack so the door wasn't tight to the frame when you are trying to drop the 'U' into the receiver.
These 'U'hook latches were also used in out trailer to secure the front TV swing out door/bracket.
