Sofa Bed adjustment

The sofa bed in our new Monte sleeps OK, but the head of the bed is about 3 inches higher that the center and foot of the bed. Kind of like you're on a slope. It looks like the height difference of the slide out where the head of the bed is located is the cause. Has anyone else seen this and can the mechanism be lowered enough to make the mattress level? Seems like this should be a factory adjustment.

tehachapatch, 3 inches seems like an awfull large amount to be out of whack. I have opened our hidabed couch up and laid on it, and it seems OK to me. The slide out drops down flush with the rest of the floor so there is no difference there. Does your slide out not do this?

tehachapatch, maybe I didn't pay much attention when I laid on this thing the last time. My wife opened it up to put sheets on it tonight, for a Thanksgiving trip, and I noticed it looked high on the head end. I laid on it , and found what you were talking about, it IS about 2 1/2 inches higher at the head end. After looking everything over, I have concluded it's poor engineering on the couch. It looks like it was designed to work without the round feet that are attached to the bottom of the couch. If these were removed, I think it would be level. I mentioned this to my DW, and got one of those LOOKS, along with the words, that told me it would be best to put blocks under the bed legs to raise it up to the same level as the couch.

Best to listen to the Ladies Lonnie! I actually thought of putting 3" of blocks under the wheels and tilting the Monty until the bed was level.

Phil, on ours, an 05 3400, the hide-a-bed, when out,the head area(closest to the back of couch) will pull up so you can watch tv. Then when you are through, pull up on it and it will lay flat. Dose that make sense? Try that and see if yours does the same, but don't pull so hard you break it. Good luck, or maybe I should say sweet dreams.

Wow Paul, that works neat, I didn't know it did that. It still doesn't lay level on mine, but it may on Phil's.

Well you learn something everyday on this forum. We have never had our hide a bed out and I didn't know it did that. We have an 05 3400 also so I assume it is the same. Now I'm going to have to try it!
Happy trails.......................

Thanks Paul, I just went out and checked our unit and it works like you said. That is a neat feature that I did not know we had.

We've been looking at hide a bed sofas at our local furniture stores and the salesmen showed us that feature soooooooooo when we got home we checked ours out in the Montana. The one in the Montana does that also and we didn't find out about it until about a month ago. Our daughter has been sleeping on it for a year and a half.

Hubby put those 3"blocks of wood under the feet of the bed and that worked fine. A little easier than moving the whole trailer. good luck

Many people go out of there way to raise the heads of their beds up to six inches. This helps sinus drainage, reduces stuffy heads, and reduces acid reflux while asleep. In the 17 and 18 hundreds, beds in warn moist climates where deliberately elevated up to 18 inches to prevent people from drowning in their own fluids because of many lung and etc. deseases. I have slept with the head of my elevated for over 20 years.

Also, thanks for the tip about the sit mode for the hideabed.

This is our third Monty and all of the hide-a-beds have had this feature on them. If I had known that no one knew about this feature I would have said something sooner. It is a great feature and our grandkids have used it often. I guess that I just assumed that everyone knew about it. I will rack my brain to see if I know any more secrets about the Monty.
