new hitch recommendations

I hope I am not reinventing the wheel, here, as someone posted a question regarding hitches. I have a 99 F250 Ford SD with the 7.3 that I am going to be using to pull a 3400 that I have on order. We will only be making short trips with it for a while. I have read references on the website about hitches that involve air, and modifications to the pin on the trailer that involve air. My situation is this: I need to be able to remove the hitch from the truck bed by myself, but I want to do anything I can to smooth the ride, as my wife, who has never pulled a trailer (I grew up driving livestock goosenecks) wants to learn to drive it. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you look into the glide ride by demco. It changes out the pin box on the monty so the hitch weight is not affected. We have been pulling with the glide ride for 6 months now and it has significantly improved the ride, especially on concrete roads with uneven seems.

For the hitch I recommand Kintec hitch. The head can be detach from the body it weighs about 50lbs, and the body weighs about 110lbs, make it very easy to remove from the truck.

Sometimes one gets lucky and just a standard hitch will pull like a dream. My F350 05 Crew Cab Long Box handles my Montana so well I would never consider an air suspension hitch. For other people, the air hitch is an absolute necessity they can not do without.

Some wheelbase combinations just don't work as well and like I said, my brother had a 98 Dodge SB that would not pull his 02 Forest River Fiver without going into a slamming that was incredible and scared the heck out of me. At that time we hooked up my CC SB 2000 F350 Ford to his trailer, went over the same road that caused the slamming.......... nothing, smooth as can be.

It would be nice if you could try out your rig with a standard hitch and see how it feels.
