Front Boat Racks

Have any of you got the front mounted boat rack on your truck. I have a 14' aluminum fishing boat that I would like to take along sometimes and am thinking of putting a boat rack with the auto loader on the front of the boat. What are your thoughts good or bad idea?

Haven't done it myself Doug, but have seen this setup on a lot of TV's over the years. It's the pitts having so many toys and so little room isn't it? Now where to put the ATV's?

I actually saw a guy that had a rack on the front of his truck and had two ATV's on it and was pulling a 5th wheel. My kinda guy.

Doug,

That is going to be my next project. I have a 16' Wenonah canoe I want to take along. I tried to get it on the top of the Monty but it puts me just over 14'-6" tall.

I'll install a front mount Draw-Tite receiver and use a Thule Goal Post for the front support. I'll have to add a roof mount from Yakima since I already have the Yakima gunnels brackets and cross bars.
There was a thread about this on RV.Net a while back. You might try to search for it. There was a lot of good info discussed there as well as pictures.

Ken

Now that I'm home from work, here are the links for the components:

Doug, we saw this all the time in Canada and Alaska. I don't have any specifics but it's very doable.

I am wondering if I would be overloading the truck. I have seen this set up a lot but hesitate to add more weight to the truck.
