New England

We find we have some time on our hands after we drop our grandson in Connecticut.

Thinking about Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine. Anybody with experiece traveling with your Montana in this area? Would like some ideas and campground recommendations.

As usual, we appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Jo-Anna and David

Jo-Anna & David,

We stayed at the Freeport/Durham KOA. It is only about 6-8 miles to the L. L. Bean store, and other shopping stores in the area. We were only there two days, so we did not do any other sight-seeing.

Acadia National Park is a must in Maine, Bar Harbor area. We have stayed at the Mt Desert Narrows Campground for many years. In NH, Twin Mt KOA is good, near Mt Washington.
Burlington, Vt is nice.

Have Fun.

We are currently staying at the Freeport Village Camp Ground...availabilty is difficult, but here is the number if you want to try for reservations: 207-865-9227. Freeport is a tourist destination for LL Bean...even though it is the HQ for Beans, do not expect any deals...even in their outlet store. We have also stayed at the Durham KOA...since the access roads have been repaired, it is also a good place to stay. Agree with corncob on visiting Arcadia National Park (also Bar Harbor can be a fun community to walk through).

David & Joanna:

Give Eastern Slopes Campground in Conway NH a try.

They have a pull thru RV section with 50 amp service, Cable TV and WIFI reasonably priced.

Its in the heart of the Mt Washington Valley, close to Outlet shopping, the Mt Washington Auto Road, Mt Washington Cog Railroad, Conway Scenic Railroad.

It's located on the Saco River and if your interested and the water is warm, you ride a tube down the River current from beach to beach on the river.

My wife and I spent 12 nights there in July, with my brother and his family. We had many other family members dropping by for two night stays while we were there.

We have already made a two week reservcation for next summer.

If you get to Bar Harbor JoAnna and I hope you do, Hadley's RV was an affordable price to stay at.. We stayed in a water and electric over Labor Day weekend on our way back from Newfoundland for eight days... They have a honey wagon that we used twice.. We were way in the back forty with lots of space.. If you should get to Cape Cod I can give you a name of a good place there too....

Oh, oh, and if you get to Lubec, Maine downtown is the first marine chandlery in the U.S. and a good pizza joint.

We took a whale watching tour out of Bar Harbor. Takes about half the day, but well worth it.

Acadia National Park in Maine.

Moosehead Lake in Maine.

Near Campobello Island (visit FDR's place there).

Boston. Boston. Boston. Wow. Loved it there.

Oh! Forgot to mention. I plotted a GPS from Conway to Freeport/Durham KOA and I was on some roads that I didn't think I should be on. The GPS was programed for the quickest route. Taking the Interstate would have been several miles longer and a few minutes longer, so it plotted a course that was "faster." Yeah, right! Like 25 mph on some of the roadways.
So check out a map when you are traveling in that area.

Those were my days with the 3400RL and an F350 crew cab/longbed.
